Q. With less than 200 days to go for the PLASTINDIA 2023 exhibition, there must be a lot of buzz around. Please share the roadmap from here on until D-Day?

Yes, you are absolutely right. There is a lot of buzz around and we, at Plastindia, are fully geared up to work towards organising an exquisite show in February. The week of 17th July, 2022, we visited Delhi and reviewed the progress of the fairgrounds. We also had an important meeting leading up to the planning of this event where the members of the Steering Committee under the Chairmanship of DCPC that we have formed met up with the representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of External Aff airs and other supporting Ministries of the Government of India. This meeting was all about putting things together for organising the event. Internally, we have formed several other committees, viz. the layout plan, the advertisements and sponsorship packages, the registration process, that have been working relentlessly towards executing the event. Our mobile app for the event is almost ready and we are really excited about it as it matches up to international standards. The precursor of this event was launched in Delhi on 4th May, 2022 and we are now gearing up for similar promotional campaigns at a few more destinations across the country, reaching out to people.

Q. With K 2022 round the corner, what kind of marketing strategies are you looking at?

At this point in time, the promotional activities being planned are primarily for visitors. We are not aggressively marketing the exhibition and it is virtually sold out. Our exclusive partners for the European regions are already making adequate eff orts to promote the event. However, we would meet up with our partners

“Things should be absolutely exciting for the participants to showcase their preparedness and products for the global markets. People are really looking at India to supplement some of the things that were, hitherto, being supplied by other countries,” affi rms Ajay Shah, in dialogue with POLYMERS Communiqué.

from other parts of the world to fi gure out how we can further leverage it and ensure that we have enormous international visitor participation.

Q. A lot has already been discussed about the readiness of the Pragati Maidan. Please provide us with the latest update to address this concern of the exhibitors as well as the visitors.

I was at the Pragati Maidan just a couple of days ago and, looking at the preparation, I can confi dently say that everything is underway, and we will be able to execute this event eff ortlessly and successfully.

Conferences

To Become Markets of the Industry

Q. Getting back after a long gap...how do you feel putting up a physical event?

I am a doer and passionate about the fl exible packaging industry. Our conferences are curated essentially to facilitate participants to learn and benefi t from the latest trends in the industry. The intent is to off er consolidated and useful information from the leaders of the industry.

To keep up as the torch-bearer of learning, we decided to use the virtual platform to complement the physical conferences. I started interviews with industry leaders and uploaded 125 videos on YouTube. Our viewers are not only industry colleagues from the global packaging industry, but also their family, friends and factory workers. We have sizeable followers on our channel and people regularly engage with us on that platform on issues relevant to the industry.

As to the big gap, we consistently nurtured our internal team, strengthened our relationships in the industry and continued to be associated with our steering committee throughout the pandemic. So, all the essentials of a successful conference are already aligned with us.

One of the key advantages of an offl ine conference, in addition to gaining knowledge, is the networking opportunity that it off ers. We have launched a ʻPersonalised

Online Networking Schedulerʼ which will facilitate all the delegates to set up meetings with the attending delegates so as to network, share experiences and gain practical advice from over 1,300 delegates, representing 13 countries at the fl exible packaging conference.
