Gnostic Love Gnosis (from one of the Greek words for knowledge, γνώσις) is the spiritual knowledge of a saint or mystically enlightened human being. In the cultures of the term (Byzantine and Hellenic) gnosis was a special knowledge or insight into the infinite, divine and uncreated in all and above all, rather than knowledge strictly into the finite, natural or material world, which is called Epistemological knowledge. Gnosis is a transcendent as well as mature understanding. It indicates direct spiritual experiential knowledge and intuitive knowledge, mystic rather than that from rational or reasoned thinking. Gnosis itself is and was obtained through understanding, arrived at via inner experience or contemplation such as an internal epiphany of intuition and external epiphany such as the Theophany. The word means the knowledge to influence and control, also. (Thanks Wikipedia.) “Gnosis is loosely defined as a break in, or overwhelming of, the parts of the mind involved in rational function, and thus a temporary paralyzation of the psychic censor. “ Okay. So let’s start here. To ascertain the extremity to which Mike has affected my reality as of late, we’ll first define “rational function.” So “function” is basically “performance of some act for a purpose of an anticipated outcome.” At least that’s my off the cuff definition. So then, we’re now left with “rational”. To not get too longwinded on this point, I’ll defer to Wikipedia: Any process of evaluation or analysis, that may be called rational, is expected to be highly objective, logical and "mechanical". So then, routine, calculated, suave, devoid of emotional extreme influence. Now gnosis, is the name for what occurs when there is a break in or overwhelming of … essentially the capacity to conduct and maintain rational functionality. .. resulting in a “temporary paralyzation of the psychic censor.” Ahh censorship. So, all in all, it is simply a type of alternative views of rationality, reality, and consciousness. Now for another quote: “Basically, any activity that throws the mind into
a state of total confusion …can be useful in achieving gnosis...As far as how gnosis functions, I think that what's going on in the Gnostic State is that, by throwing the mind into such a state of confusion and overwhelming the psychic censor, one literally achieves a sort of union of all opposites. In other words, the boundary that separates the "inner void" from the "outer" falls away, and the magician opens herself to a realm of infinite variables. Mike threw me for the proverbial loop. I tried last night to describe to him how I interpreted my very limited understanding of tantric sex. I stated: Let’s agree that there is present an internal world, housed beneath the surface of the skin, and an external world, which is everything that exists on the outside of one’s skin. Now. When tantric sex is practiced, the parties involved engage in a process, whatever that may be, focused on the outcome that they reach a “common sense” – heh – of both each other, themselves, and the additional external reality. It’s almost as if the tantric process agitates a tear in the boundary of internal/external for both parties simultaneously, thus enabling them to shed their imprinted current reality network and enable them to both partake and participate in the supercurrent of being that is both inhibited and inhabited by all other objects. So, this is a chronicle, real time, and quite hypertextual, of this journey with Mike, that I will grant the nomen, Gnostic Love.
