Cultivating lifetime enrichment through arts, education and community. 1

THE CENTER A BLANK CANVAS OF OPPORTUNITY • Versatile, lakeside venue that creates opportunities to complement and elevate McCall’s existing venues, businesses and service providers. • Beautiful, forward thinking mixing space in the center of McCall with inspirational views that celebrate Payette Lake as the area’s Crown Jewel. • In the heart of downtown McCall for easy access to shopping, dining and lakeshore recreation.

The Center will be the very first year-round performance-oriented place in McCall. It will round out the experience in McCall and build on the legacy for a greater community. Bob Looper, Ponderosa Center Board Member & CEO of Brundage Mountain Holdings

INSPIRING COMMUNITY POSSIBILITIES As new challenges and opportunities emerge in this dynamic time, we need a place to imagine, learn, gather and experience. Currently, school gyms and churches are the primary gathering spaces for the community.

The Center would: • Encourage and support community engagement and connectedness in the heart of McCall. • Be a new center of community for McCall with social events and music performances that make it a destination day and night. • Enhance community lifetime learning through arts and education programs. • Be accessible year-round even in inclement weather. • Be a venue for all families, regardless of means, providing enrichment for all.

“The Ponderosa Center will be an incredible blessing to this community, offering a home venue for local artists and a gathering place for all. Vivian Driscoll, Community member and passionate supporter of the Arts

ARTS A true advancement in the availability of the arts is made possible through the addition of a facility like the Ponderosa Center. • The Center will be home to its partner, the McCall Music Society, increasing the impact of programs for all ages, including High Mountain Strings and SummerFest. • Premier performance space will attract artists of all varieties within and outside of the area.

Participation in the arts, especially learning to play a musical instrument, instills the benefits of hard work along with improved communication skills, discipline, creativity and patience. Richard Surbeck, President, McCall Music Society

ONE CENTER. THREE PRIORITIES. 4

EDUCATION Through partnerships with universities, community colleges and other nonprofits, the Ponderosa Center is committed to bringing a robust offering of learning opportunities to the region. • Expanded local access to college coursework. • Strengthening bonds with area schools to enrich K-12 learning. • Enhancing life-long learning through continuing education and public lecture series.

Education is not simply what you learn from engaging with a teacher, although that is critically important. It is also what you soak up from participating in a community, or when you feel the joy of a beautiful concert or painting, or research ways to improve our world. Having a place and resources to do all of these enriches our lives. Joan Edwards, Ponderosa Center Emeritus Board Member

COMMUNITY Ponderosa Center has the power to transform our community. • Enhancing bonds of neighbors and providing a place for locals to have a sense of belonging. • Partnership with McCall Ski Heritage Foundation, preserves the multi-generational, pioneering spirit of McCall through a permanent museum installation celebrating ski culture and heritage. One of the most important pillars to good health is having a robust community of relationships. The Ponderosa Center will provide the opportunity to continue to foster that community for all of us.” Dan Ostermiller, MD, Integrative Medicine Specialist

BUILDING PLAN LOCATION The site selection process chose a clear winner for the future Center based on its proximity to dining and shops, pathways and parks, but the stunning lake view was the true decider. The surroundings provide a clear, rural edge that preserves the area’s history and environment and declares to visitors and residents alike that they have arrived somewhere special.

COLLABORATION & PARTNERSHIPS Board members have worked closely with the City of McCall and integrated building plans to complement its 2018 Comprehensive plan. Collaboration with the city continues in order to maximize transportation efficiency, including traffic flow and parking management. The McCall Chamber of Commerce supports the vision of the Ponderosa Center and looks forward to exploring partnership opportunities to establish a centralized location for visitor information services. McCall Music Society partnership supports a joint vision to enhance the cultural climate in the community. McCall Ski Heritage Foundation partnership celebrates local community spirit in interactive lobby exhibits that display generations of artifacts, pictures and ski memorabilia. Everyone that visits McCall will be given the opportunity to experience the rich ski heritage of the community.

The partnership between the McCall Ski Heritage Foundation and the Ponderosa Center will connect generations through the celebration of local ski heritage. Russell Moltke, Board Chair, McCall Ski Heritage Foundation 6

ECONOMIC BENEFIT In 2018 the Ponderosa Center partnered with the West Central Mountains Economic Development Council, The Idaho Department of Commerce and ECONorthwest to evaluate the impact of the Center on the local economy. The study encompassed the impact of construction and full operations status of the Center.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS • Construction term drives jobs and related area services through supplier and employee spending. • Economic driver for McCall’s largest industry of hospitality-based services. • Contributes to tax revenue for City of McCall’s Local Option Tax directly impacting community improvements. • Increased off-peak season visitation provides predictability for local businesses and year-round employment expansion for local residents. 8

COMMITMENT FROM BOARD TO THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN IS

100%

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN The capital development plan for the Ponderosa Center is seeking its funding through individuals, businesses and foundations. Board commitment to the Capital Campaign is 100%. The total capital needs include funds to develop, build and invest in the first five years’ sustainability plan. While this is a very significant project for McCall, the budget is not extravagant for a project of this size and scope. Importantly, the Carey Family has generously offered the land at a substantial savings to the Center making this amazing location affordable and feasible. • Recently, 97% of residents, businesses, community leaders and non-profits surveyed, showed support and validated the priorities of the building. • Opportunities exist for naming the facility, individual rooms and unique elements in honor of your donation. • Donor recognition center in Ponderosa Center Lobby. • Ponderosa Center is a nonprofit 501c3. Giving options include cash, check, and stock transfers via Edward Jones and the Ponderosa Center Fund in the Idaho Community Foundation. Debbie and I got involved with the Ponderosa Center because we believe it is the right time to invest in the future of the McCall community. The Center will provide a positive impact and expanded opportunities for generations to come. Chet and Debbie Wood, Ponderosa Center Board & Campaign Cabinet Members 9
