TRAINEE TUTORS
Our trainee tutors programme gives young people the opportunity to shadow professional arts practitioners and visiting touring companies in various participation projects. Buddug and Manon are our current trainee tutors.
Buddug Roberts
I’m Buddug Watcyn Roberts, and a 22-yearold PhD student in Creative Writing at Bangor University. As well as following a PhD, I work as a Trainee Tutor with Pontio, and have had the opportunity to work on various projects with BLAS. My favourite part of working with BLAS is watching young people take on the arts, and use the arts as a form to make their voices heard, watch their confidence grow and develop as they take their place on the world’s stage.
Manon Gwynant
I’m Manon Gwynant, and a PhD student in the School of Welsh at Bangor University. I’ve been a Trainee Tutor with BLAS since 2019 and have had the opportunity to be a part of a number of projects over the past few years, including shadowing professional arts practitioners, lead sessions and working on developing and bringing exciting projects to life. My favourite memory of working with BLAS is on a project called ‘Clwb Darllen’, in partnership with North Wales Africa Society. Listening to the ideas of the young people, and watching their confidence grow over the weeks was amazing, and the icing on the cake was seeing the work in a book at the end of the project.
