Jayanagar is a residential suburb of South Bangalore. Jayanagar IV Block is the main shopping area of the suburb. The central square of Jayanagar IV Block houses a shopping complex built by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). The building, not having undergone any rennovation since its initial construction, witnessed a major fire in 2008. The fire is said to have started due to electric failures leaving the entire first floor gutted. The Bangalore Development Authorty proposed a plan to redesign the complex.
