UNDERGROUND
The site for the proposed project is situated in the northern part of Banglore. It is located to the north of Kempegowda International Airport, in the locality named Boovanahalli.The design in inspired by the concept of underground building, as the aerial distance between the airport and the site is less than 3 km. The design takes advantage of the nature.Earth acts as a natural sound damper thus minimising the cost on building materials,Temperature below the ground is around 4-5 degrees lesser, and it reduces the usage of centralised air conditioning,Green roof adds sustainability to the building,Gravity can be used for water service, minimising the costs on pumping, Fire Resistance, High thermal efficiency, Energy saving, Resistance to earthquakes and other natural calamities, Low construction and maintenance costs.The design has an enchanting mystery aspect. When one enters the site, he will remain oblivious of the convention centre as its hidden below the ground. The upper surface is a green roof, which is accessible to the public. Thus, there exists a water cascade which leads the way to the visitor. On entering, one experiences enormous openness with huge stairs leading the visitor downwards with falling water from floating structure around him. The water droplets sprinkles on the visitor as he walks down, which gives a soothing affect and a sense of celebration, happiness and tranquillity. This water further falls into the artificial lake present at the lowest level.There exists a huge open central space which acts as a point of convergence where people can meet and celebrate and the space also provisions an open air theater.The mystery element of the design will always make the building look fascinating. While the other construction techniques get evolved with time.
