Ÿ The idea of the skill development center in

ambapada was to enhance the skills of the native people who are not getting a proper platform. Ÿ A place for people to work, learn, teach and live. Ÿ The idea of design is to create a connectivity through voids which will works as interacting spaces which will connects people easily when they work as a collabrative.

space which bring out the importance of historical surrounding. A space without restriction which reminds the glimpse of Shahustraling talav. To create a gathering space with minimum walls and only openings excluding doors and windows Two types of material to be used one of them would be structural and another would be non structural. Stone is used as material to create its correspondence with the look itself. The design tries to incorporate the elements of the existing site. The interpretation area is open to say to relate itself with immediate context. Topography of the site suggest direction of water from site and surrounding being terminated into basement tank. Water is collected from site and surroundings.

05 URBAN INSERT VARANASI ARRIVAL CHOWK REDEVLOPMENT: Reimagining the street between godowlia chowk & girjaghar chowk.

Map of Varanasi District with City highlighted with red showing the dense urban fabric.

BUILT VS OPEN - City's dense fabric can be clearly seen. Also, the ghats serve as only major open spaces in an otherwise dense city. All the narrow streets ultimately open up to ghats.

LAND USE - The land use on the adjacent sides of the roads majorly includes commercial and mixed use, mainly because this route seeing a heavy tourist ow each day to city's major landmarks. As we go away from the main road, the residential land use

increases.

BUILDING CONDITION - Only 4% of the buildings are either vacant or closed. These also include some very old houses which are no longer inhabitable due to structural deteriorations.


Periphery of road is Pedestrian and central plaza is created to bifurcate vehicular and pedestrian movement

A clear demarcation of road along with pedestrian path which can segregate different zones and can be designed for relative purposes.

Vision Statement: Reinforcing The Street Character To Dene Arrival Of Paramount Importance. Objectives. Reinforcing Relation Between Civic Amenities And Commercial Amenities. A pedestrian path is such that it can divert the Reinforcing Street Character By Making Street Pedestrian Friendly. heavy trafc into a one way vehicular movement, Reorganization Of Public Transportation Movement. which can emphasize activities happening on Relating Music With City By Introducing Institution Of Music Which Is More Accessible By The People. street as well as create a new identity of street.

Taking vehicular movement into design consideration. Two major junctions are analysed and modied accordingly.

PROCESS MODEL

Guidelines: Removal Of Electrical Wires, Windows, Jali, Inappropriate Construction, Temporary Shading Elements. Addition Of Chaja And Plinth In Appropriate Material And Design. Provide Transition Spaces And Walkways Between Shops And Streets. Restrict Illegal Encroachment Of Shops On Road.

New Meaning Of The Bridge: Giving A Life To The Old With Help Of New. To Introduce A Bridge As A Pedestal. Plinth, Ramp And Toilet Is Provided On East End Of Bridge ( Towards Old City). Ramp Which Leads To Platform From Where People Will Be Able To See River With Cityscape. Plinth Is Also Provided On West End Of Bridge From Where Old Cityscape Will Be Seen With River. The Chabuttra Is Also Provided On That Plinth For Feeding Birds Which Also Regenerate Idea Of Gathering Space And Act As A Small Gathering Space. Fabric As A Element Used For Shading.

A very Essential educational approach which is based on acquiring knowledge and skill by participatory and shared learning processes result in making of brick plinthed bamboo pavilion.


09 BUNDI, RAJASTHAN. Ÿ

Bundi is a city situated 35 km from Kota and 210 km from Jaipur in the Hadoti region of Rajasthan. It is of particular architectural note for its ornate forts, palaces and stepwell reservoirs known as baoris. The city lies near a narrow gorge, and is surrounded on three sides by hills of the Aravalli range.

Balchandpara was one of the selected site for detailed analysis, which Ÿ had oriented itself around the Naval Sagar lake. Another Important Ÿ factor to be noted was that the Baoris had thick retaining walls Ÿ probably to prevent damage against tectonic movements.
