Poole’s Bridge for the Future This landmark structure is the first bridge of its type to be built in the world. Its unique triangular-shaped lifting leaves reflect Poole’s proud maritime and industrial heritage. When the bridge is up, the two lifting leaves symbolise the sails of a yacht and offer different views from every position along the quayside, from a sailing symbol to the spire of a cathedral. In its lowered position, the bridge offers stunning views across the natural beauty of Holes Bay. The Twin Sails Bridge is attracting attention from around the world and its iconic structure is raising the profile of Poole as a destination of choice for both visitors and businesses. The Twin Sails Bridge represents Poole’s ambition of being a successful 21st century town. Not only is the bridge providing reliable journeys between the town centre and Hamworthy and improving access to the port, it has opened up one of the largest sites in the South West for development. Come and take a look at the Twin Sails Bridge and enjoy the spectacle as the two world-class ‘twin sails’ are raised and lowered. Lifting times can be viewed at: www.poole.gov.uk/twinsails

The overall style is Georgian and stems from re-development in the 18th Century when the area accommodated the prosperous middle class of Poole, such as sea captains and well-to-do tradesmen. Their brick-built houses have fine proportions with a wealth of authentic architectural details such as fanlights and boot scrapers. The Lower High Street has some interesting buildings, independent retailers selling unique gifts, handmade cosmetics and delicious treats along with a varied dining scene. Poole Museum Poole’s rich history is revealed in four floors of galleries. The 18th Century harbour warehouse has been carefully revealed to provide the perfect setting for the story of Poole to be told. Food Hygiene Rating Scheme Poole is running this scheme in partnership with the Food Standards Agency. The aim is to provide you with information about the hygiene standards in these premises at the time they were inspected.
Businesses are rated between 1-5, 5 being considered very good, but any rating 3 and above will give you confidence that their standards of hygiene are acceptable. The ratings reflect the hygiene conditions and do not reflect the quality of food or the service levels of the businesses. Food hygiene ratings for Poole restaurants are now available on the Food Standards Agency website: http://ratings.food.gov.uk

POOLE’S AWARD WINNING
Stunning Beaches Sandbanks Naturally beautiful with its golden sand, Sandbanks Beach is designated by the European Commission as one of the few areas in the country which has achieved the highest standard of cleanliness.
The beach is situated between Shore Road and Branksome Chine and is accessible from Cliff Drive where you can find on-road parking. The steep, sandy cliff face provides a haven for wildlife. The picturesque beach huts date back to 1920.
Sandbanks has held the highly coveted international Blue Flag for the past 28 years – the only beach in England to achieve this.
Branksome Beaches Include Branksome Chine and Branksome Dene beaches (dogs allowed all year round at Branksome Dene). There is a range of places to buy food and drink and the recently built rock groynes create individual bays to enjoy.

Seldown surface car park is also available, providing easy level access to the town centre shopping facilities. Motor caravan parking is no longer permitted on street in Newfoundland Drive, Labrador Drive and Catalina Drive (map ref F5), but is
available in the nearby Harbourside car parks. Overnight camping/cooking is not permitted on street or in car parks. Disabled parking includes wheelchair spaces. Multi-storey car parks are not free to either blue badge or tax-exempt vehicles. Parking for motorcycles is free in all surface car parks – park in marked motorcycle bays only.
