DISNEY DISNEY THEATRE THEATRE A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land's fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal - an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces a battle with the invading king's successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom - and perhaps to Maleficent's true happiness as well.
“A vengeful fairy is driven to curse an infant princess, only to discover that the child may be the one person who can restore peace to their troubled land.

s e n e c S e h t d n i h e B “I love her! I do! It’s a really, really great script and a great character,” Jolie’s surreal, contact-lensed eyes light up as she tells us why she chose this project. “She’s very fun and it’s a great part with a lot of depth so it’s very fulfilling.” “The really interesting thing about this film is that we find out where she began and what affected her to get to the point where we all know Maleficent to be. It’s not a one-note song – we see the whole song and go beyond that to see what happened to the character afterwards too.” - Background Production Designer
“We did look at the cartoon it was something we all loved and was very important to us” - Angelina Jolie
“She was my favourite when I was a little girl, so I was so excited the day I got to go the Christening and actually dress up in the outfit and say the lines. And the first time I saw the spinning wheel… it was fun!” explains Jolie with a flash of what looks like serrated teeth.
