INTRODUCTION To me architecture is not just about creating new buildings, it is about meeting needs without compromising the stock of natural resources remaining for future generations. What affects me is that the design of a building should be harmonious between theoretical, social, functional and technical characteristics and, at the same time, relate respectfully to the context. In every project I worked on I have always tried to guarantee a well-balanced treatment of any of those aspects and to tackle the need for the built environment most realistically and objectively. The philosophy of my designs is to minimize the negative environmental impact of buildings by efficiency and moderation in the use of materials, energy, and development space to pursue a conscious approach to energy and ecological conservation in the design of the built environment. My experiences so far include not only university courses and work, but also trying to relate to the professional world and with some extra activities: In all of these experiences, I noticed how important was and in fact, it is to be capable to go through many themes and requirements that a project needs, from teamwork and theoretical issues to dealing with clients, engineers, and building regulations.

Lighting accounts for 40 percent of the energy used in a typical commercial building. A complete daylighting system including metal sunshades on south-facing walls can reduce HVAC peak loads with corresponding reductions in mechanical equipment capacity and carbon footprint.
