The Pop Up Pavilion is a celebration of Richmond’s burgeoning status as a hub of culinary innovation, fashion design, and world culture. The interior of the pavilion is designed to express an awareness of Richmond’s past, and a realization of this historic city’s potential for the years and decades ahead. The Pop Up Pavilion will be pieced together with refurbished architectural elements from the Richmond of days past, supplied by Caravati’s architectural supply.

Additionally, the space will be turned green by Sneed’s nursery, highlighting the connection between individual lives and the land in which those lives flourish. La Difference will be furnishing the space with comfortable and practical furniture. The overall design of the pavilion is an attempt to reflect the culture of Richmond, past and present, and to point us towards new possibilities for growth and development in the years to come.

The Pop Up Pavilion is a destination for foodies, gourmands, and those of us who just want to enjoy a solid sandwich and a great pint of beer as well. Fresh vegetables will be available to anyone who comes to the Pavilion, with Grow RVA (The South of the James Farmer’s Market) taking up about half of Third Street between Hull Street Rd and Decatur Ave for the nine days. Food trucks from in and around the Richmond area will be cycling through for the nine days of the bike race, offering everything from gourmet mac n cheese to Caribbean cuisine. Some of Richmond’s best bakeries, butcheries, and brasseries will be at the pavilion, participating in Tasting Tables that feature signature food items paired with wine and beer. Anderson’s Neck Oyster Company, Petrossian Caviar, and Chateau Ste Michelle, for instance, will have a day to share fresh oysters, caviar, and sparkling wine with visitors.

Multiple Me
Visitors to the Pop Up Pavilion will be able to find marvelous artisan products to decorate their homes and cherish as mementos of the UCI Bike Race well after the cyclists and fans have gone home. Everything from hand made candles from Tulip and Bear, to bath and body commodities, courtesy of Apothec and Beauty Secrets U.S., to high quality cigars from the Cigar Event Company can be found at the Pavilion this September. Not only this, but lightweight children’s bicycles will be on site for visitors to demo and purchase directly from Pello Bikes, and of course, helmets that are both safe, attractive, and benefit a worthy cause from local nonprofit I Am RVA. I Am RVA works to provide individuals who couldn’t otherwise afford a helmet with this important safety measure, and proceeds from helmet sales go towards I Am RVA’s Traumatic Brain Injury scholarship. In addition to all this, magnificent hand blown glass made by local artisan Neil Duman, and breathtaking framed photographs that depict Richmond’s iconic and lesserknown landmarks, taken by local photographer Joseph Johnson will be made available at the Pop Up Pavilion.

UCI BIKE RACE 2015 INTERIOR FASHION DESIGN FOOD PRODUCTS SPONSORS Pop Up Revolution is especially grateful for the sponsors who have helped them curate this amazing event with an eye towards practical accessibility, local culture, and aesthetically engaging and beautiful design. Thank you to Caravati’s, La Difference, Concrete Designs of Virginia, Sneed’s Nursery, and Specified Tile for making the space a lived-in celebration of Richmond’s past culture, a beautiful and innovative glimpse into our promising future, and a comfortable welcoming space for everyone. Plant Zero has been extremely supportive, letting us use and transform their location into an open market and cultural meeting ground for the nine days, and Skyline Tents has also been a fantastic collaborative partner in the design of the outdoor spaces. Virginia is for Lovers and Virginia State University have both been encouraging and indispensible to the accomplishment of Pop Up Revolution’s goals. Signscapes and Full Metal Hosting have been key parts of Pop Up Revolution’s effort to cultivate both a physical and online, social media presence in Richmond and the surrounding areas. To all of our in kind sponsors, Pop Up Revolution says, thank you, and we can’t wait to see what we create together next.
