U.S. EMBASSY IN BUDAPEST type: Government size: 16,000 sq. ft. location: Hungary, Budapest

There are many considerations in the design of an embassy: organizing its varied programmatic functions; negotiating

the multiple user groups of foreign mission officers and staff, the ambassador and his or her family, dignitaries, and
instructor: Professor X
the public ; and representing the character of the United States as its embodiment in a host nation. The main body of the embassy into three strips- an administrative section- containing foreign mission offices, a ceremonial sectioncontaining an event space, salons, and cigar room, and a general public group- containing a library and entrance. The residences are separated from the main body of the embassy by a private courtyard. The varied spaces used by the public are arranged around the entrance atrium to ensure direct access. Gray brick is used to connect the building to its site as brick is the prominent material of contemporary Hungarian architecture as a reaction against precast concrete standardized methods of building typical of postwar Soviet architecture. The ceremonial and public space create opportunities for communication and interaction, as this is the goal of the embassy itself in the strengthening of relationships between countries to maintain international relationships and promote peace and stability.

Over seventy years ago, Le Corbusier observed that “Architecture is not a synchronic phenomenon but a successive
instructor: Professor X
day, in the age of the digital, ephemeral and intangible, the phenomenal experience of architecture can be forgone. The

Technology has allowed us to abolish time and space in the dissemination of knowledge and ideas. How do we reimagine the library when it has been superseded as the nexus of information? The Audubon Library imagines merging Le Corbusier’s architecture of successive spatial experience with the virtual synchrony of digitally accessed memory to create a layered suspension of images and data in time and space. The library is the materialization of information.

The site at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and Courtland Street is adjacent to the AIA Atlanta Office, Georgia

the medium of fruit carving. In this, I focused on how the surface curvature and geometry of the fruit influenced the
State University, and Hurt Park.The design of this project began with an analysis of the operation of carving through act of carving. The undulating walls are formed from lofts of four basic fruit and vegetable profiles: apple, pear, squash, and cucumber. Using Grasshopper to analyze the surface geometry, the walls were then carved in order to create fenestration and circulation. The cuts coincided with the program and level of privacy required for the room.

Most live work residences in the vibrant Cabbagetown neighborhood of Atlanta consist of a commercial aspect on the
instructor: Professor X
the site while the residence is accessed discreetly by walking up the site. The residence functions as two seperate units,
lower street level and the residential above. In this scheme, the commerical aspect of the cafe is situated at the front of one being a private unit comprised of bedrooms and another a communal area of the kitchen, dining and livingarticulated as seperate volumes.

The concept of Oakland park is for the user to experience a changing of expectations. This is achieved through imposing a geometric wireframe on the landscape, making the grass and land- a natural material usually gentle and curved in form -into flat, sloped planes in order to achieve a visually interesting experience in the juxtaposition of material and form and the departure from what is usually expected in landscape. Additionally, from the slope of the landscape, users are encouraged to lie on the slopes in order to reorient their vision upwards towards the sky and experience a different bodily phenomenal quality than that of standing up or lying on the ground.

headquarters is composed of three components: adaptive resuse, a retail land bridge, and affordable housing. The site’s Chicago City Riverwalk Initiative resulted in the conception of green roof habitable pedestrian land bridge. The retail component activates thearea of the River Walk.
