The Portland Ballet Co.: Alicia DiBiase and Frederick Bernier.

The Portland Ballet Repertory Company pr~sents the fult length classic farce Don Quixote. This production is after the full-lengthballet choreographed by Marius Petipa, produced in 19th century Russia. Based on a theme from Cervantes' popular 17th century novel, the ballet version is a tongue-in-cheekcommentary on human foibles in regard to love, romance and idealism. Additional choreography is created by Roxanne McHugh, Ballet Mistress for Portland Ballet, and Gail Csoboth, Associate Artistic Director, who also stage the production. SUMMER THEATER

The Portland Players present Evita, the spectacular Andrew Lloyd Webber{fim Rice retelling of the legend of Eva Peron. She was a bit actress, mistress and wife to Argentina's dictator, Juan Peron, and a saint-like figure in whom avarice and benevolence combined to form one of the most powerfulfolk heroines of modern times. The show is eaaentially an operetta, and the non-stop musical is renowned particularly for the elegiac "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina." Beau Jest Moving Theatre is a company dedicated to creating a style of movement theatre that combines singing, acting, dance, mime and satire. Curtain time is 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; 7 p.m. on Sundays. Directed by Michael Rafkin, the play is loosely based on the true tragic story of an artist friendof Martin Jones. The play followsthe IS-month personal journey of a young woman whose mother, father, and sister were brutally murdered in a still·unsolved case. Author Jones resides in Bru~wick, Maine. He is currently the Playwright-in.Residence at Portland Stage Company through a RockefellerFoundation grant. In January of this year, his play Welt Memphis Mojo, an FDG/CBS New Play winner, enjoyed a critically and popularly successful West Coast premiere in Los Angeles. It is being published by Broadway Play Publishers. Stage Arts Theatre Company in New York produced Snow Leopardl in 1985 (published by Samuel French, Inc.) and premiered his tril· ogy Zoology in 1983. Old Soldiers was published in Best Short Stories c.f 1983. Other works have been produced at the Guthrie Theatre in Minnesota and Off·Off Broadway.
