summerguide Lovin’

I wanted to let you know that the Turtle Love Co. team is a big fan and we wrote a blog post about you today to let all of our fans know about you, too:

“…I recently discovered an interesting article [“My 15 Minutes of Maine,” Summerguide 2010] in Portland Magazine about other creatives (Yoko Ono, Tippi Hedren) who have been similarly affected by [Maine’s] magical locale, so I guess I’m not alone. I think I’ll stick around forever.” Amy Jorgensen, Turtle Love Co., Portland

What a great issue [Summerguide 2010]! Tina Allen, Downeast Properties, Blue Hill

Portland Magazine is an excellent magazine. I enjoyed several articles in Summerguide, especially “My 15 Minutes of Maine.” Keep up the good work. Marsha G. Twomey, Danvers, Massachusetts

aLL the rage

Summerguide is fantastic, and your story “Acadia’s Cajuns” has brought light to some of my favorite chefs. I’ve had the opportunity to dine in each of their restaurants, and let me tell you, you’ll leave their restaurants very happy. Christine DeCuir, New Orleans Metropolitan CVB, New Orleans, Louisiana

shocked & odd

As an avid reader and longtime subscriber to your wonderful publication, I was

shocked and dismayed to see an error in research to the summer home of John Travolta and Kelly Preston [“My 15 Minutes of Maine,” Summerguide 2010]. I’ve spent many summers on the gorgeous island of Islesboro and consider it a second home. Years ago, I had the pleasure of joining Kelly and Jett on her “put-putt” boat around [the] harbor. What a beautiful person she is, inside and out. And what strength and grace she’s shown in the tragedies of her life. They’ve had a gorgeous home on Islesboro for many years, not Vinalhaven…

Nevertheless, I’m still a huge fan of Portland Magazine (and an old employee!) and look forward to it every issue. Amy S. Fisher, Cape Elizabeth

I’m not sure why your [“Imperatífs” entry, Summerguide 2010] on Maine Foodie Tours sounds so discouraging. It sounds like you’re asking people, “why bother to take a walking tour?” And it also suggests the tour is the same whether by foot or by trolley…I was definitely expecting a more thorough or at least an accurate depiction of what the company has to offer, with three very distinct tours. Pamela Laskey, Maine Foodie Tours, Portland

Wild for the Wild child

This was a great interview with Jean Fogelberg [“Wild Child,” April 2010]. Your readers got more insight on the private life of this musical legend. Dan Fogelberg is missed, but his memory lives on. Stephen Hazard, Fulton, New York

Beautiful, insightful article. Heidi Scott, Palmetto, Florida

Great story. Jean sounds like a wonderful person…Being a lifelong performing guitarist/vocalist/songwriter myself, I can say that Dan’s work was THE driving force of inspiration to become a songwriter…I was working in a record store in Savannah during his promotional tour for Run for the Roses when he stopped in, but I missed him by just seconds. Hard to believe you can miss someone so much who you never met. G. E. Perry, Savannah, Georgia

Davis Island in [“Private Isles,” Summerguide 2010] is south of Port Clyde. The house on page 121 [“Homes of the Architects,” Summerguide 2010] is James Sterling’s.
