Senior / Adaptive Swim
Come join us for Senior/Adaptive Swim! You can use our warm water pool to swim laps, do your own exercises, walk with or against the current channel and use the whirl pool spa. It’s a great time to meet others and have a quiet time to exercise. All adults and seniors are welcome with paid admission. Not available on school days. 1 Lane Leisure Pool. Pool supporting multiple programs. Location East Portland Community Center 740 SE 106th Ave Day/Time June 19 - August 23 Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10:30am-11:30am Limited space and sharing the pool with other programs. August 27 - September 27 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1:00pm-2:00pm 4
Have fun dancing to a DJ or a band. Socialize with friends, both new and old. Refreshments are provided. Cost for Participants is $7. Facility staff and parents get in free, but donations are kindly accepted to help with the cost. Group and Foster home staff must stay to assist their participants in the dance unless prior arrangements have been made with AIR by calling 503-823-2883. Due to the large number of participants who attend the dance, AIR staff are only able to supervise participants who are in the auditorium, social room, or hallway of the center. Staff are unable to aid participants who need close supervision.
Bowling For Fun ages 12 - adult
Have fun with your friends while knocking down pins. Beginners to advanced bowlers are welcome. Bring $6 for one game or $12 for two. To accommodate blowers who wish to play every week and don’t want to hassle with bringing money each time, we offer a 20-game punch card for $120, contact AIR 503-823-2883. Shoes are included in the price. Pre-registration in not required. Adaptive bowling equipment is available. ADAPTIVE CAMPS Adaptive Skateboarding Beginner – Get On Board No skate experience, no problem! Boards will roll in this introductory camp designed to support skaters with special needs. Visual schedules, social-emotional learning, and pivotal response training techniques will be used to teach safety skills, basic board control and proper balance. Instruction will cover the mechanics of a skateboard, how to properly wear safety gear, and how to fall without injury. Participants will make new muscle memories while sharpening independent and attending life skills! Skateboards, helmets, and pads provided. A fun week geared for adults to experience the outdoors firsthand. This week, we will be exploring Sunrise Park, Ridgefield wildlife Refuge, Whitaker ponds, Fish Hatchery and an alpaca farm. Sneak among the trees, peer into woodland homes, stumble upon wild berries and nurture a sense of wonder! Experience the outdoors firsthand through hiking, ecology, games, hands-on activities, nature play and forest crafts. Be active, have fun and learn about nature with a diverse staff! Teen Destination Week
Spend the week exploring fun, cool activities in the Portland area. These trips will range from Putt Putt Golf, swimming and rollerskating to train rides. Each day of each week, we will be going to different places around town. The cost of these activities is included in the price of this camp. Camp Withdrawal Policy
If you need to withdraw from a camp, a partial refund will only be issued if notice is given the Wednesday prior to the camp start date, by 5pm. Refunds will not be given for withdraws after the Wednesday prior to the camp start date, by 5pm. A withdraw fee will be applied to each withdraw, totaling $15 for camps less than $199 and $25 for camps over $200. Prepaid materials, including admission and transportation for field trips, will not be refunded for withdraws taking place less than five (5) business days (M-F) in advance of the camp start date. GATEWAY DISCOVERY PARK Daily Drop-In Activities: June-October Daily 11am-6pm All Ages - Hours and days subject to change due to weather, events, rentals and staffing. Activities include, ping pong, giant Jenga, giant chess, cornhole, bad mitten, board games and more! Tennis on the Go: Every Wednesday June 5 – September 25 12:30-2:30pm 6 years + - This is an instructor led introduction to the game of tennis through rally & game-based self-discovery with short court boundaries, mini-nets and foam balls. Balls and racquets available to use on-site. Wednesday Night Groove: Every Wednesday June 12 – August 28 5-7pm All ages - Come out and enjoy music while getting your groove on! DJ’s are spinning beats and taking requests! Concerts on the Lawn: Thursday, July 18, August 15 6-8pm All Ages - Enjoy a FREE concert on the lawn at Gateway Discovery Park. Bring a blanket or low back chair to enjoy two hours of music, dancing and fun. Food vendors will be on site throughout the concert. Music: To be announced! Chess for Success: Friday, June 28, July 26, August 23 10am-2pm 4 years+ - Drop-in and play chess anytime between 10am and 2pm. Chess for Success staff will be on-site to assist players and share the love of the game. Picnic in the Park: Sunday, June 30th, July 28, Aug 25 Noon-3pm All Ages Activities include music by DJ George, Bubble Soccer, lawn games, Loteria and much more. Food vendors will be on site if you want to buy your lunch or grab a snack!

All Inclusive Bingo in the Park: Tuesday, June 25 1:30-3:30pm - Bring your lunch or buy something from the food cart. We will be playing bingo while meeting new friends and visiting old ones all while trying to win prizes! This outing is wheelchair accessible.
July Events
All Inclusive Teen Night: Thursday, July 11th 6-8pm - Enjoy a night of music, dancing and fun. DJ George will be on site taking requests to get the party going and the dancing flowing. Ice cream vendor will be on site. Movie Night: Friday, July 26 6-10pm All Ages Join us for a movie on the lawn on our 25 ft. inflatable movie screen! We will have a DJ and food vendors prior to the movie. Bring your blankets and low back chairs, grab a snack and get ready for some fun! The movie will start at dusk. Movie: To be announced soon.

We are looking for qualified Inclusion Assistants responsible for working one-onone with children who need additional support in Portland Parks & Recreation programming. Experience with children required, and those with experience supporting people with special needs will be given priority with positions. Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation works in tandem with PP&R Community Centers and SUN Schools to help integrate children with special needs to have positive and successful experiences. Want to try something fun and new? Try our exciting small group lesson all while having fun learning confidence and safety for you and your horse. We will be focusing on equitation and working as one with the horse. There are over 180 beautiful acres with pastures and trails. After spending an hour on our lessons, we will be touring around the barn helping with grooming and feeding the horses. Bring: $31 cash for the lesson and a sack lunch. The Big Canoe
Be prepared to paddle our way down the river, as we explore the lower Columbia on a 2-hour tour. Look for bald eagles, great blue herons and water fowl that live in the wetlands. Travel the actual route Lewis and Clark explored. Your perspective of their adventure will come alive as you help paddle a 50-foot replica of a Native American dugout canoe. On a secluded 28 acres in Longview, WA lifetime care for rescue primates is guaranteed among the fir trees surrounded by nature. Try this new trip to Portland International Raceway to check out over 800 specialty British cars! Are you into Aston Martins, Rolls-Royce and Bentleys? Check out all the Mini Coopers, vintage cars, and slot cars as they race down the track. We will be going on an off-road adventure ride, guided walking to of all the vintage cars with a quick stop at the food carts for lunch. A new twist to our usual seaside trip. After our usual trip to Futono’s for lunch, we will be exploring the Seaside Aquarium, which is one of the oldest aquariums on the West Coast. Check out the underwater area takes you into a fascinating world of unusual sights, vibrant colors and rare life forms. Before heading off for ice cream we will feed the seals as they make lots of noise begging you to feed them. Bring: $27 to cover the cost of your lunch, food to feed the seals, and your ice cream.
