Items in the closet can only be purchased with “Carver Bucks.” The Carver Buck Program has been implemented for teachers to reward students who have shown good behavior, a great attitude, done something kind for someone else, been responsible, etc. Media Event: The grand opening of Kay’s Closet will be November 12, at 5pm at Carver Middle School, located at 4500 Columbia Street in Orlando, FL. The ceremony will feature a ribbon cutting and leadership from both Orange County and the Bridges of Light Foundation. Also available through Bridges of Light, the Educational Tutoring Program provides children with a tailored mentoring and educational program to increase their grade point averages and build their life skills in preparation for adulthood. The same personalized academic instruction, guidance and mentoring services that have been available to children of Great Oaks Village and are now available in select schools identified as having the greatest need. “We go where we are needed! And the need in this school is overwhelming. We are mission-critical to change the direction of these kid’s lives.” Stacey Papp – Founder Bridges of Light Foundation: The Bridges of Light (BOL) Foundation was established in 2004 with the primary objective to raise money for abandoned, abused and neglected Central Florida children in order to further their education. Results from report cards show the ETP has been successful in achieving this goal, with an overall increase of 7.9% from the first quarter and up to an 11.5% increase in their GPA’s the third quarter. This increase compares the private tutors to when the children attended a group study hall. At least ten children have attended college since 2006.
