The ETP provides at-risk children with personalized one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to increase academic confidence and success, and to build life skills that will help them become productive members of society. Last year, BOL was asked to bring their proven ETP system into the Orange County Public School System. The children at Carver Middle School were the first to see the benefits of the program. With the support of BOL partners, the organization plans to expand the ETP into additional public schools in the Central Florida area. Founder of Bridges of Light, Stacey Papp: “Getting these children focused on their education and goals has kept them out of trouble, off the streets, and learning important life skills that will help mold them into productive members of our community,” Established in 2004, The Bridges of Light Foundation (BOL) has its primary objective to provide educational and financial resources for abandoned, abused and neglected Central Florida children within the foster care facilities. Through the Educational Tutoring Program (ETP) children are prepared to graduate high school and enter into the work force and college. Through the ETP’s personalized instruction, guidance and mentoring the program is consistently successful in achieving an overall increase in the GPAs of these students. In 2013 Orange County Public Schools approved BOL to begin execution of the ETP within Orange County, starting with Carver Middle School.
