CENTRAL FLORIDA COMPANIES ARE GIVING BACK AND GETTING BACK BY HIRING PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES Primrose Center Partners with Goodwill Industries Orlando, Florida–– Primrose Center has been providing job skills training and employment opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Central Florida for over sixty years. The training takes place as part of Primrose’s Adult Day Training Program (ADT), specifically through the Primrose Industries Program, which provides subcontracted work for companies in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Primrose Center is increasing community impact with the announcement of their most recent partnership with Goodwill Industries of Central Florida. Primrose is providing staffing for a book scanning project at the Goodwill Industries location on Orange Blossom Trail. In 2015 Goodwill Industries provided free vocational services to 42,900 individuals and helped place 7,591 individuals into jobs in the community. “This experience provides individuals not only with valuable job skills, but with a sense of personal achievement in being able to earn a paycheck. We are proud of their accomplishments and congratulate them for being successful in representing Primrose in the community.” Bill McCormac, CEO Primrose Center In addition to supervised community employment through these types of work enclaves within the community, Primrose Industries also performs services such as packaging and sorting at their Ferncreek location. The individuals prepare things like gift bags and registration packets for local events such as marathons and conferences. Their client list includes: Visit Orlando, CVS, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Darden and Red Lobster. Primrose Center is a 501(c)3 organization that provides training, employment and residential programs and services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
