An Alternative Theater Complex Lower Manhattan, NYC
STUDENT COMPETITION
The rectangular lot was planned in a way that allows union and integrity within all elements that dominant the area (high line, Hudson greenway, NYC convention center). Integration between indoor and outdoor activities in order to create a fluid and vivid environment that serves as much more than just a theater. A place that allows a different way of enjoying the energetic city of New York. A play ground for both young and adults, incorporated in quotidian life. The theater complex tries to literally get outside the box by its curved shape that expends towards the isolate borders, reaching out for NYC residents and visitors to come and explore the new multifunction area. The enclosed theater is part of a wider external green zone that expends the theater experience outside through numerous outdoor functions for leisure, socializing and culture. The alternative spaces forms the unique terrain elevations of the park.
