His newest series, Critical Listing, teaches homeowners how to raise the value of their homes through outdoor renovations. He is part of the Cityline team; writes a column for Huffington Post and Hoss Magazine about outdoor design and appears regularly in a variety of magazines with guest articles. He is the North American outdoor expert for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate and the outdoor guest expert on the Shopping Channel. His credits include: the host of HGTV’s Green Force; the Gemini nominated Room to Grow on Global and the Discovery network; and Better Home’s and Garden’s Home; First Home on the Hallmark Channel in the U.S. Currently, Carson’s programs can be seen on every continent in the world. He is also the author of the sold out book Garden Designs for Outdoor Living. Carson’s latest series on HGTV Canada is “Critical Listing” where Carson connects with the outdoors. Carson brings to Critical Listing a true desire to help homeowners at a critical juncture of selling their current home for maximum dollars and sealing the deal on their new one. With pinpoint accuracy Carson finds landscape and planting solutions that entice potential buyers up the driveway and through the front door. “It’s not about throwing money at a problem,” says Carson. “It’s about where dollars are best spent to get the most value!” His positive attitude extends to Carson’s favorite and not-so-favorite TV moments. “When I was able to help a 15-year-old confined to a wheelchair use his backyard for the first time,” is stamped on Carson’s memory as is splitting his pants during a shoot day for Critical Listing. “I couldn’t leave set; it’s amazing what some carefully placed duct tape can do.” 8 springHomeshow2015

Jo graduated with a B.A from a Liberal Arts School in Manhattanville, New York City during which she had the opportunity to explore Europe, studying colour and architecture while attending London’s City University. Jo’s passion for design has been showcased on HGTV, Discovery Channel, CBC’s Steven and Chris, CityTV, Rogers Stations, CHCH, Global Morning Show and BT. She has also become the new design face of HGTV for their 2014 Critical Listing show. Her expertise has been proven as well within the film industry as a Production Designer for a handful of films. She has been running her own successful business since 2005, which caters to clients design needs on any budget. Jo has enjoyed the process of making a name for herself in the industry. She has developed a diverse client base and is most proud of being able to provide style and continuity for a range of personalities and decor preferences. One of Jo’s proudest adventures has been designing her own furniture line located in stores across Canada, as well as a lighting collection for Artcraft lighting that is in major lighting stores across Canada and the U.S. She also has her own paint colour with Para Paints. To add to her list, she is the Style Editor at Canadian Home Trends Magazine and has a monthly column in the Toronto Sun. As well, Jo has been teaching at Humber College North Campus since 2010, developing young minds of the industry.

Features’ Corner Presenters Paul Lafrance Friday, March 27 5:00pm Saturday, March 28 1:00pm Does Your Home Tell Your Story?
Paul Lafrance, creator, owner, and CEO of Cutting Edge Construction and Design, and host of HGTV Canada’s Decked Out and Deck Wars, has been generating innovative and state-of-theart custom deck designs for over 15 years. He has successfully designed and built well over a thousand decks across Southern Ontario, and has now expanded his design firm to include all of North America. His designs are always original and each project offers its own uniqueness and the beauty that has come to define a Cutting Edge Deck. His vision is to demonstrate how even the most basic backyard can become a true “retreat” in an age where weekend travel to a cottage has become an impracticality for most. Aside from the artistry of the designs, every project boasts structural integrity and resiliency that lasts for decades. Paul’s passion for design and architecture is matched by his love of music and composition. Being both a musician and a deck builder has given him the edge and the creativity needed to offer the one-of-a-kind deck concepts that have transformed countless backyards over the years. As Paul says, “You don’t need to be a musician to know a good song when you hear one; it’s all about how it makes you feel. A good backyard retreat is all about emotional response rather than just assembling sticks of wood!” His work has been featured on Home and Garden television, Holmes on Holmes, Breakfast Television, Holmes Inspection, and he has built projects for a number of high profile personalities, including “Canada’s most trusted contractor” Mike Holmes, for whom Paul built a stunning backyard oasis. Over the past year, he has kept busy appearing as one of three celebrity judges on Canadian Handyman Challenge, along with Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler. He is also continuing to film the HGTV hit T.V. show, Decked Out, as well as a brand new show called Disaster Decks. Paul continues to break design barriers with each new project, while he and the crew keep up their much-loved hilarious antics in the new season of episodes. On February 17th his new show Custom Built debuted on HGTV, where Paul is making things personal with custom designs that put the homeowners own personal stories above following trends, while blending artistry with functionality. 10 springHomeshow2015
