The entrance to the hotel lifts to the lake and eventually continues on the water as a PIER which afford passengers a good journey on the water. ground floor divides into two residential and official parts, with a lobby between them and a dining hall on the top floor, suspended by two brown boxes . The vertical ties of the building are located in these brown boxes. there is also a brown box on the pier as a column-cafe for the roof of the pier. In this project, i try to maximise the transparency of the building! not only people can see ending of the pier from entrance but also there are several ways to watch art galleries from voids or indirectly, from the mirrors which puted between rooms. there is also chance to see lobby from dining hall .

3000 YEARS OLD CIVILIZATION MUSEUM Architectural Design Studio 3 Location : Hamedan - iran

The site of the project located in The foothills of Hamedan which is one of the most important historical city of Iran. in this project, I tried to design something simple out of form! so the Museum can represent itself as a different volume in nature and draw attention to itself but, the landscape of the site tries to shape unregularity and attract people as well as their cars and hide ugly cars from street view at the same time. the main building rotated 45 degrees to show itself bet ter to cars and pedestrians, and the facade is covered by white and opaque glass which diffuse the direct light in interior spaces and also give a chance to show different images related to the museum on the facade. there is also a chance of rotating opaque panels to gain more light.

The Concept of the project is too simple! it tries to enter the people from the ground! so they can see the museum as a suspended box in the history! there is a tunnel as the main entrance which guides visitors to bottom of the building and passed them from the sculptures and their reflection on the water, the aim is to change the vibe and bring people to 3000 years ago step by step. After that, they come to the main void of the building which galleries surrounded it. so in different locations, they have windows to the void and there are chances to have a little rest! galleries are located on three floors so as visitors go up, their minds will come back to reality.

SHY HOUSE Architectural Design Studio 2

Awarded and selected to be exhibited in the university’s Archive Design team: Pouria Shaghaghi , Benyamin Nemati Tasks : Research, Concept Design, Design Development, Architectural Illustration

The task was to build two separated modules for the living of two individuals during the holidays. the boxes must contain a solution for saving water for two weeks and the area of boxes were clear. so we couldn›t do lots of different on boxes! as a result, we decide to build a yard between the boxes to maximize the space and change the vibe. the opening or closing of the boxes was suited for different locations such as cities or forests. they also provide a chance to control temperature during different seasons.

In each unit , two panels is placed to provide a suitable floor for the yard. In position of 45 degree rotation one panel from each unit would be pulled out to make a surface for the yard . And in the total rotation 4 panels will make the surface .

The aspect of rotation provides a multifunctional space for the residents to live and do different kind of actions there. The rotation would be in a fit of action which is happeing there and it can be vary from the minimum position to maximum position.

page 8

Minimun occupied space : When two units are placed beside each other the house will occupy less space of the land and also it provides all the primary needs for at least two individuals.

UP | The units can place in different locations such as forests or a city Highest degree of privacy : When the nature unit ( extention unit) is placed in 45 degree rotation with the living cube the complex will provide a centeral yard which preserve total privacy for the people who are living there .

Maximum space in property : In this position , when units are placed perpendicular to each other , the yard is spacious and it has the maximum space for living in analogy with the closed mode.

The house has the ability to collect the rain water and after purifying , the clean water will be saved to be used to drink and wash .By the way a 5.44 sqm water tank is placed in the roof top .The water enters by a gutter drop and will be purified by a porous panel to flow through the pipes. The amount of water a single individual use per a day is about 150 litrs. According to the capacity of the tank the residents can live up to 18 days with a full tank . There is another tank under the floor of the bathroom to accumulate the sewage It is composed of two part to seprate the dry sewage from the wet sewage . There are two spots on each tank : one for transfering water from the tank in nessesary moments . The other for exporting the dry sewage to be used as manure for farming .

PRIMARY SCHOOL Architectural Design Studio 1

Awarded and selected to be exhibited in the university’s Archive

Location : Tehran - iran This is my first design in the university. we had to design a 12 class-primary school in Tehran. I Analysed the project and I understand every school is created with different zones which have to keep the distance from each other. on of them was “laboratories” and another was “ordinary classes”. there were also to zones for sports eating and official works like managing the school. like many other projects that i had, I made a transparency in the entrance of the building! so in the first moment that you enter the building, you can see another glass door in front of your self! so nobody feels that they came into the building. the lobby is located between classes and sport- eating zone. so the lobby tries to keep noises far from classes. there is also a Triangular courtyard between class and laboratories which connected with a bridge among trees.

page 12

As a challenge in the Design process, I tried to manipulate the effects of cutting on paper in the school form! So a surface can reshape differently depends on numbers of fixed points that have. every surface can stretch into different coordinates, both 2 or 3 dimensional. so I continued every wall-line in the building and

simulated reforming of building like effects of cutting on paper. the cuts Left the effects on the landscape So I bolded the lines with differentiating between materials and making gardens. the lines also made a bower with a roof in the back courtyard for students.

JIROFT SCHOOL Architectural Competitions

Shotlisted For 2A Asia Architecture Award 2018

Design team: Pouria Shaghaghi , Benyamin Nemati ,Shayan Adham Tasks: Research, Concept Design, Design Development, Architectural Illustration Location: Iran- Jiroft Area: 3700m^2

Jiroft is a deprived village tucked away behind the hills of Kerman. Underprivileged rural dwellers suffer from primitive facilities and infrastructure. In so being, the crime and health incidence has surged for the past years. In order to alleviate the problems of the village, an overhaul in educational system is a must. Therefore, Jiroft`s authority decided to renovate the sole primary school and change it to a cutting-edge school in favour of childrens future. Repetitive articles published by media about child crimes of raping and murduring students at Jiroft`s primary school has led to the closure of the building. Whats obvious is that, the school is devoid of safty and decent security. On the other hand, due largely to the generation gap in the village, overwhelming majority of people are not interested in traditional public spaces, mosques etc.

The school building itself is a large scale mass in comparison with other rural blocks. By observing the site, the domestic buildings fall into 3 categories in terms of area and function. Therefore, three courtyards are considered in the mass to disintegrate the building and provide some openings which let the sunlight to cast through.

SEDUC-TIVE PAVILION Architectural Competitions

Team member: Pouria Shaghaghi , Benyamin Nemati ,Shayan Adham abol fazle raees samieeTasks: Designer - visualizer Location: Italy-Milan

Vagueness is something that attract attention. Suppose the importance and allure of the light at end of a tunnel for the person who is stuck in one. A sign of a relief that entice him to walk through to approach an imaginary place. The same is true for women and their capability to lure people via their bewitching nature. What if the installation incorporates all the feminity attributes to act as a seductress? In so doing, observers would have the chance to get to know these female stars in a seducing manner. To meet the objective, a general scenario is imagined to encite people to approach a specific point by demonstrating cumulative data on the site. The scenario is comprised of interconnected stages which exhibit a series of associated pictures by which the first and the last stage accounts for the highest level of vagueness and clearness respectively.

page 16

In order to define the pavilion and incorporate seductive features a series of curved walls are considered to form a so-called maze which leads people towards the last stage but provide endless ways to approach the point. These surfaces are considered bifacial and are reflective on front and solid on the back which occupy the site in a way that simultaneously guide the observers and prevent them to see the subsequent stage directly. Once observers enter the building they will face plenty of surfaces reflecting vague pictures. Surfaces as such act as a mirror by showing deformed reflections of the main picture. In so doing, people are enticed to enter the pavilion to find out the source of the reflections.

page 17

The general scenario of pictures distribution on surfaces is to be obscure at the outset by exhibiting cut out pictures to emphasize specific points of the body and crystal clear at the end by exhibiting the whole picture with their descriptions. In addition, in order to interconnect curved walls and accelerate the process of seduction, an alphabet pattern is projected on pictures to act as a clue for observers to be enticed to find out the correlation between pictures. At the final stage, people are likely to find out the correlation between the pictures and the alphabet pattern. The greatest upshot of this approach is that the observers are familiarised with exhibited celebrities through a series of events.

DIAMOND COMPLEX Professional Architecture Team member: Pouria Shaghaghi , Benyamin Nemati Tasks:Concept Design, Design Development, Architectural Illustration, Research Location: Rasht-Iran

Design Brief: The subject is to design a commercial complex in Rasht. The site is located in the suburb of the city. Rasht is the capital city of Guilan Provice and it is renowned of its great environment. Two rivers cross this city which both are important Rivers of the town. By the fact that the site is adjacent to one of these rivers, the design of the project incorporates the features of this river and the context.

Design Concept:

Art and culture

Aqua center

Food service

Commercial

The most important factor and challenge of this design is the location and the sclae of the project. According to the primary function of the complex there is a need to include a great number of functions in a sole building. So the idea was to pull out the vertical conection and make it stand out by designing a layer which is in fact the front facade of the building to form a vertical Complex.

Commercial Food service Aqua center Art and culture

page 18

Map illustrated above indicates the potition of the site in the city. Spot "I" is the square which is located at the verge of the city and the district from that point to spot "II" is indeed the urban sprawl. The area between spot "II" and spot "III" is in fact the area which is growing at an increasingly rapid rate. In additon, It is also an entry and an exit for the city so the idea is to design the shape in a way that the building act as a demonstration

page 19

of the identity of the city. As mentioned earlier the site is located adjacent to a river. In spite of the fact that has just been mentioned, the river is so intact and there is nothing but beauty and pleasure. So in the facade of the building a series of spaces are considered in a way to have a better look to the river and the surrounding landscape.

STAIRWAY RESTAURANT Professional Architecture

Team member: Pouria Shaghaghi , Shayan Adham Tasks: Designer - Research-Concept Design- Architectural Illustration - Physical model making Location: Chamkhaleh-Iran

The site is located in one of the greatest potentials of the city. besides the river and the sea. The task was to design a restaurant with separated VIP room and music venue! we tried to make a chance for people to listen to music and enjoy from the good scenery while eating their lunch. because of the unique location of the project we faced some problems. firstly, construction was forbidden around Riverside and secondly, the kitchen and storage should be beside the street for better service, so we had three isolated dining halls. As a solution, we suggest that to build a continues void among the ground floor and first floor which combine the halls and give a chance to have a better view to outside which was approved and we earn the chance to design the whole project.

the kitchen was located beside the street, so people couldn›t see anything related to restaurant and they faced a solid box in the main facade! to tolerate this problem, we made the black part of the building stretched to the street! in so doing people had a direct view line to up floors and dining halls. structure of the project is simple ! with curved concrete panels (which shows with white color in the picture below) in same dimensions modules (5 m * 12m). there is also an open roof garden overlooking to the sea and river. we also suggested making a garden in Riverside to improve the view and put a colorful fountain at the beginning of the river! not only this fountain is beautiful from the inside of the project, but also are recognizable during nights from the main bridge of the city and advertise the whole restaurant.

A House Without Boundaries

Self Experimental Project walls or specificly, boundaries can valuate the space as a positiv or negetiv one! walls can represent a new meaning for every space. for example, imagine a tree srounded by walls or imagine a house without walls. so how we can use from a strong tool such as boundaries? I think every wall can invite the people to come and pass and find out what happens on the other side of the wall! so we can use it for lots of building such as a commercial complex which looking forward consumer and visitors. but the question is. Do we Residental Residental need the visitors for all of the buildings? Houses Houses i think no! sometimes we need privacy or silence in our home. so city how we can earn it? maybe with removing the walls of the house! so this is my project. what happens when we omit the walls? it changes the meaning of spaces and this same, we can share our daily works with other people. for example, we can read news paper in the living room and talk to our neighbors at the same time. and after a while, it’s going to be usual for people and we receive a privacy in an open space. Residental but could we share all things and works with Houses others and do our routines in an open space? i guess city no! but different people have a different limitation, for me, it was sleeping!

Sleep Box

Sleep Box city

So I made a solid box for sleeping and moved it up to continue the city into the house. in so doing. we keep privacy while we using improve our connection between people and the city. Sleep Sleep Box

About ESFAHK: The historical Village of Esfahak is located on the way to Deyhouk in Tabas in the County of South Khorasan. The contexture of the village is from clay and mud which was mainly used in the Safavi era. The most important feature of the village is a very good communication of architecture with the ground layout of a village. because of the earthquake, the old village was abandoned about 40 years, but in the past decade and thanks to the youngsters , people tried to renovate the village again.

About the workshop: Some of the young people get together to rebuild some necessary space in the village. a space for resting and a place to store clay, in a new way of usage of clay and traditional architecture. in one week, we build small maquettes with clay and afterward, we went to Esfahk for 8 days and built 4 pieces of clay architecture. the challenge was making new Arcs with void and use new technics to improve stability.

WOODEN STRUCTURE

winter 2017 spring 2018 & 2017

Collaborations: Guilan University Students and Jahad university Students | Rasht, Guilan Workshop Tutor: Eng.Maziar Hemmati | Workshop Assistant: Pouria Shaghaghi , sorush bagheri | Designer: Benyamin Nemati

Brief Description: In order to optimize students› knowledge of wooden structure a workshop tutored by a professional carpenter and interior designer held at the university. The workshop initiated with a introductory lecture by Eng.Maziar Hemmati presenting the basic and Primary aspect of wooden structure. Then a competition held between students to build a wooden flower box. After the competition the

process of building started. First, the technical details and primary infrastructures have been prepared by student. Then a voluntarygroup of students contributed to the building process

Process of building: Calculating the number of all pieces and swing them Sticking the modules Assembeling the pieces according to the plans Setting modules and fixing them Polishing the sharp corners to smooth Finally the vases were put in the prepared places

page 26

The goal of this workshop was to innovate and design new joints and structure. This workshop started with an introductory lecture. And in this lecture basic wooden joints have been taught by the tutor. Then, students started to brainstorm and design a pattern which was able to be generated. This design was inspired by Islamic architecture and in fact one the most compelling attributes of this style, Moqarnas. The pavilion created as an output of this workshop is a sort of cellular structure which bears a striking resemblance to the honeycomb structure.

Tutor: Pouria Shaghaghi , Shayan Adham , Benjamin nemati

Location: Rasht , Iran Students: Arash Yazdani - Kimia Javanmardi - Kamand Moradi - Sarina Salami - Abolfazl Raees Samee- Javad Mahsefat - Pegah khadamai - Motahareh Ashoori - Sahar Shahabi far - Maryam Moshtagh

Studio Description: Invisible city is a student studio mentored and supported by «Layers Room Group» Which take avant-garde and conceptual architecture into accounts. The focus of the studio was twofold. First, is the focus on the study approaches. Second is the artisticand architectural visualization. Studio is tutored by «LR» leading members and wished to collaborate with other pupils who were interested which ended up to an exhibition at the university of Guilan.

Design Brief: First, 15 participants joined together to make 5 Groups of 3 students. In this stage each group chose a zone to study and analyze. All the districts were located in Rasht and students by observing the sites and studying the online and written data tried to express the attributes of the sites with 5 keywords and 3 colors. once the initial studying finished, by taking these keywords into accounts students tried to create an sculpture which is an indicative of the studied zone.

Saqarisazan this group chose Saqarisazan az selected area. Saqarisazan is a historical area fulfilled with lots of narrow streets. the students walked the roots and count their steps to build this sculpture from this area as a maze. students: Maryam Moshtagh - Motahareh Ashoori - Sahar Shabidoost

BAZAR this group tried to make a renovation from traditional Market- Bazar of Rasht and tried to represent every store with different color and light in a volume and simulation the colorful vibe of BAZAR students: Kimia Javanmardi- kamand Alimoradi - Sarina Salami

Manzarieh this student tried to rebuild a valley of Manzarieh in a concrete box as a whole city and remove the alley from the whole volume and reform the walls in concrete like facades of buildings in the alley student: Arash Yazdani - Benyamin Nemati Pouria shaghaghi
