Why Do We Fear… F
ear isn’t the end of the world, but the beginning of an amazing journey. In deciding to create the Unleash Your Champion Issue and accompanying event, I was headed in a totally different direction to close out 2013. But, some of the conversations that I was having with you kept occurring too often for my liking. Too many of you were still hunting and gathering but not risking and conquering. I watch many of you, even myself sometimes, sit, and wait, and talk. I’ve even been sharing my personal struggles with you, bit by bit, on how detrimental this can be to the “successful life” we all say we want. It tears at my heart, my mind and spurs me to action to get you, to get us, to the point where we not only recognize our fears, but that we call them out by name, then release them! Most of us are used to failure. We’ve failed at something and we’re deathly afraid of having that feeling again. But you can fail by doing nothing, by not making a move, by not using your talents, by hoarding up on knowledge and never applying it.

But do you realize, that most of us have never learned how to succeed? We’ve never been taught. We’re terrified of success too. We’re scared of actually getting what we want and having the responsibility of being as great as we know that we can be. We sometimes fear this more than being embarrassed by reaching for something and failing. Remember this quote... Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? - Marianne Williamson Let those thoughts sit. Who are you NOT to be, all that you were born to be? How dare you? Human nature asks that we seek comfort in that which we understand and starting a business or even thinking about reaching out goes against everything we’ve learned and everything that’s natural to us. But do you realize that any form of success doesn’t ask, but require that we jump, take a chance, and fully understand that comfort may not be attached to some parts of our journey? That obstacles are perfectly positioned to refine our skills. That you are not behind, you are in the perfect place, with the right skills, and the right opportunities to start- now. The lessons, the event and the stories, on these pages serve as our guides to know that, no matter what corner of the world that we happen to reside, that we are not alone. Someone has been there before. Someone has experienced the exact same obstacles and setbacks that we have, yet they surpassed them. They not only excelled, they created. They visualized. They reached. They desired the life of their dreams more than the familiar comfort of their past. It’s your time. Deep down inside, where only our secrets reside, we feel the burning in our belly. We’re tired and we feel it’s time. The time has finally come for us to stop talking, stop waiting. It’s time to make a move.

We’ve seen, we’ve watched, we’ve stalked successful people. We know their story, we feel their passion. We’ve seen others go where we want to go. Drive what we want to drive. Spend their day how they want to spend their day. We’ve seen them on stages. We’ve seen them speaking, sharing, teaching, growing, expanding. We know them, they used to be with us, then, we watched them leave. We’ve watched them walk away and run towards their dreams. Now... It’s your turn. You’re ready. This desire’s been burning too long. You pull out your dream, but it’s not as you remember it. It’s gained clarity. It’s grown strength. Your dream has crossed boundaries and leaped into reality. It’s grown power, possibilities, and options, and you no longer see obstacles. It’s you. You and your dream. What are you going to do? With Great Expectations, Kristi L.
