PGMAG: Melissa, you are welcome to today’s interview.
MW: Thank you so much! I’m thrilled to be here.
PGMAG: How would you describe yourself?
MW: I would describe myself as just as average woman with extraordinary dreams and a divine vision.
PGMAG: Your bio shows me a woman who has had a very tough journey in life, but in all of those challenges, you chose to be successful. Please tell us a little bit about your childhood.
MW: Only recently, I came to recognize that my life was tough by society’s standards. I rarely felt lack in my life growing up and my childhood was amazing. Although we didn’t have much at times materially, I always felt cared for and loved. My parents were young, but hard workers and great parents. My mother made sure we had a wholesome Christian upbringing, while my dad always made sure we were protected.
PGMAG: If you knew what you know now, what would you do differently?
MW: Not a thing. I love who I am. I wouldn’t be this person without every aspect of the journey.
PGMAG: As a motivational speaker, what is your message for our youths?
MW: I remind our youth that God doesn’t make mistakes. Be authentically you. Those “flaws” that you are teased about or embarrassed of are directly tied to your gifts. Your blessings and contribution to the world will come through those things.
PGMAG: Please tell us about ‘Recherche Enterprises’.
MW: Gladly! Recherche’ Enterprises is my baby that I am extremely proud of. It’s a conglomerate of businesses that I’ve spent literally my entire life building. We service the following industries: direct marketing cosmetics, real estate, event planning, transportation, and logistics. We’re growing daily. In 2021, we’ll be taking on the entertainment industry as well so I can utilize my background in television and radio.
PGMAG: What are the three books that changed your life?
MW: *The Bible *”The Bluest Eye” by Toni Morrison *”Jump” by Steve Harvey
PGMAG: What are some of the steps that business owners need to take in order to stay relevant in the marketplace – Considering the current global challenge?
MW: Definitely get comfortable with being uncomfortable. You’ll need to be flexible and willing to learn. Commit to being a lifelong learner. Cast away all fears, especially of technology.
PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self?
MW: I would say, “Stop stressing girl! You don’t have to have everything figured out now. Enjoy each moment. Stop and smell the flowers on this journey called life. You are beautiful, valuable beyond measure & worthy.”
PGMAG: Melissa, you have been a brilliant guest on today’s interview – Thank you.
MW: Thank you for having me! I look forward to connecting again in the future!
