PGMAG: Christine, great to have you on today’s interview with Lady Anita.
CC: Thank you so much for having me.
PGMAG: Please briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
CC: My name is Christine Chama, Zambian by nationality. I am from a family of four Children and I happen to be the second born and the only girl child.
PGMAG: Congratulations on your recent achievement as a graduate of University of Zambia.
CC: Thank you so much.
PGMAG: What are some of the challenges you had to face on your journey as a woman on a mission, and how did you manage to overcome those obstacles?
CC: Some of the challenges I did are in terms of infrastructure accessibility at the University and this was due to the fact that I am a person with a disability. Also just fitting into the new environment with more people without disabilities.
I managed to overcome those obstacles by first believing in myself that I was able to overcome my challenges. Also with my parents and siblings always being there to encourage me and making me understand that I should always focus and pay more attention to my abilities and not my disability.
PGMAG: What would you say to those who are afraid to pursue their dreams due to their disability?
CC:
PGMAG: What is your message for world leaders?
CC: To the World leaders help persons with disabilities realise their abilities by implementing policies that are inclusive.
PGMAG: If you are given the opportunity to lead your country as a president, what are the changes you would like to put in place in the first 100 days of office?
CC: Firstly to help change the negative perception that most people have on persons with disabilities.
Ensure that laws and policies to be implemented are inclusive.
PGMAG: How would you describe yourself?
CC: I am a Disability Advocate, Social Worker, Development Practitioner.
One who so much believes in the matra “Be the Change You want to See".
PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self?
CC: To my younger self never should you let your disability hinder you from achieving your dreams,always remember disability is not inability.
PGMAG: Finally, what is your African dream?
CC: To see an Africa that is sustainably developed and its nationals actively benefiting from all of its development.
