Byers Motorsports Sudbury Recap Orillia, Ontario
(March 6, 2012) – The full Byers Motorsports team re-united for the Sudbury Pro Snowcross this past weekend at the world class facility of Sudbury Downs Racetrack. The last time both Jamie and Kyle raced together was at the Barrie National over a month ago. Kyle hit the track in the Sport 600 class after being off the sled for a few weeks. In moto 1, he got pinched out off the start and went to the back of the pack. He struggled with the snow-dust visibility th but was able to gain back a position for 8 . Kyle got a great start rd in Moto 2, running a strong, smart race finishing 3 . Unfortunately, with 25 racers in the class, he did not gain enough points to qualify for the final. In Sunday’s Sport 600, Kyle got pushed out on the start and was th near the back. Kyle rode hard for a 6 place finish. In Moto 2, he th got a decent start and had a good battle with 4 place staying on th his bumper finishing 5 . Disappointed, Kyle did not qualify for Sunday’s final. “It felt good to be back on the track and I had fun. It’s tough competing against the guys that have been racing all season” Kyle said after the weekend. “I look forward to racing at the final two races of the season.” Jamie hit the track on Saturday in the Pro-Lite Stock class with the snow falling and wind blowing. He had a tough nd start in Moto 1 and had to make his way through the pack and battling with the leader finishing 2 . He had a great nd nd start in Moto 2, riding a strong race for 2 giving him the 2 qualifying spot for the final. Jamie lined up to the inside but didn’t get the start he wanted. He made some time up in the back section, rode a smart race th coming across the checked in 5 . The sun came out for the Open class on Sunday making visibility of holes on the track easier for the racers. Jamie had a tough race in Moto 1, rd running in 3 before coming off the sled. He was able to catch back up to th the pack but ran out of time to make a pass finishing 8 . He ran a smart th race in Moto 2 finishing 4 which gave him a back row start position for the final, which wasn’t a bad thing. Jamie got a good start diving to the inside of the first corner as the front row pushed outward. He was running a good th th race in 4 before going off the track, giving up one position finishing 5 .
Jamie spent the week before the Sudbury race weekend with the Supertrax Magazine crew as a test rider in West Yellowstone, Montana for SnowShoot 2013. SnowShoot is when all 4 Manufactures bring their next year’s snowmobiles to one location for the Media to see, ride and take pictures of for their next seasons issues. The Friday return from SnowShoot was going to be tight for timing to make it back for the Sudbury race to begin with but got even tighter when the flight home was cancelled in Chicago. The Lester’s made great efforts to try and get Jamie back for the weekends race, including renting a vehicle and driving home 11 hours (special thanks to Luke and AJ for driving) from Chicago, getting him back to Orillia at 4am Saturday morning. Jamie woke up at 8am and drove 3 hours in a snow storm to Sudbury to meet up with the rest of the team. Jamie had an amazing time and can’t thank the Lester family and Supertrax Crew enough for their hospitality and inviting him to join them once again this season. Due to lack of snow, the re-scheduled Lindsay event has been cancelled for this weekend and the next CSRA race will be at Chicopee Ski Resort in Kitchener, Ontario March 24-25. Following will be the season finally at Horseshoe Ski Resort near Barrie, Ontario March 30-April 1.
