Augusta, GA: No more than 30 minutes from Aiken. Home of the Masters Golf Tournament. History comes alive at the Augusta Canal Interpretive Center. Float past more than 200 years of history and watch for wonderful wildlife as your guide shares canal lore and legend on the Petersburg Boat Tour. Columbia, SC: About 1.5 hours from most points in Thoroughbred Country. Visit Riverbanks Zoo, the South Carolina State House and the South Carolina State Museum. Shopping and city tours are also popular options. Lakes Murray & Thurmond: About 1.5 hours from any part of the region to a major lake. Lake Murray sits west of Columbia. Lake Thurmond is just north of the region. The Coast: 2.5 hours or less from any part of the region. Charleston, Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head are notable destinations along the coast.
