About the creative process

PLUS The personal contract At the end of this course I hope I have understood all stages of the creative process to solve problems and creating new future opportunities and within this process what methods can be used and why. Strengthen teamwork with people who think differently than me and be able to use all these tools in my daily life and my work. I also hope to understand the difference between designing and creating things and how this can be useful for the problem or the opportunity i have.

WHEN YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW, LET IT GO INSIDE YOUR BODY.

ABOUT ? ? ? THE CREATIVE PROCESS

4

THE NATURAL CREATIVE PROCESS The creative process can be a method or a natural process all human being has, when it is a natural process it can happen in the following way:

Preparation: You are stuck

and have no ideas in your mind that´s when we start to feel frustrated and our only solution is to let the problem stay the way it is because you’re so upset you just don’t want to continue thinking what could be a good solution.

activities you found out an amazing solution for your problem.

Illumination: You finally

have a great idea, so what if you did it!?

Verification: You elabora-

te, present and test your great solution.

In a natural way you can have many sources for your ideas not even thinking about a method it can be from your Knowledge and expertise, logical Analysis and deduction, jus by experimenting, by being frustrated, from another problem you have /serendipity, analogic and metaphoric extension, structured creative techniques and procedures.

Incubation: Since you are

upset you just start to put your mind in other activities that makes you relax like going for a walk, taking a bath, sleeping… but unconsciously you are still thinking on your initial problem and suddenly doing all of those other

experiential learning styles Other creative process can be the Experiential Learning Style that for me is the process I normally use and since I learned about it is the one I always think about because is a cycle a person can normally do.

Experience: when you Reflect: are part of the process when you act and you are in action. Look objectively on what you see with no value judgementand what are your emotions.

when you start to analyse the experience you had and start thinking what was relevant.

Experience what?

so what?

...and now what?

conceptualise what if...?

conceptualize: implement: what you are ready to make decisions and to Imagine, to generate Ideas, concepts and recommendations.

are your conclusions? start developing the idea, test it be part of your solution and try to improve it to create the value your target needs.

Order Give your ideas the benefit of doubt and trasnform wild idea into useful ideas.

The creative diamond is part of another creative process called the creative process solving. This Diamond is what happens inside each diamond that the creative process solving has. It starts diverging where you get the whole information, then you make a clustering where you organize and make an inventory to get to converge that is when you make desicions and choose the relevent information from your clustering.

For all of those processes I have thought about

how to create value

for those ideas? Well to create value is to create connections to

open new doors

with the concrete target you are making a solution for, to understand what that target needs and what qualities does your solution have to be taken in mind. To create value can be that simple as changing sizes or directions.

group dynamics

When we started to work in groups it was a great idea to bring to knowledge the group development to have a better process. First the forming where we decide in a random way who was going to be part of the team, then we defined roles who was going to do what in the team that is called the storming. In every group is good to have norms to have a good performing and at the end of each meeting is good and polite to have a good adjourning, to say goodbye and have a nice closure. 10

For trust formation in a group is important to have a goal integration, to know what the objective is so everyone can “talk the same languageâ€?, to have control is to make a good planning of what your are going to do, to have timinig and that was really useful for us at work because we could achivieve the activities we needed is also really importante to have really good means of communication (mail, phone, computer‌) and last but not least is to have accepetance in the group, to trust in each other and on what each one of us is capable of without judging anyone because every point of view matters and can have a really good idea behind it.

It is really important to have extroverts and introverts in a team for group dynamics the difference is introverts think before expressing themselves and the extroverts express themselves before thinking on it, but Introverts and Extroverts have an equal importance as sourcing ideas ! Introverts are often overseen as an important resource because of their style of interaction.

it is better to say you have What each of us has to have in our group is tendency to introvert motivation for what we are doing...Do what or to extrovert you love from the heart, do not get busy of what yo will get from it. -Marc Tassoul. (as verbs) The motivation we have can be extrinsic when taht motivation comes from the outside and you are expecting to receive something, normally money from what you are doing, and the intrinsic that is the motivation that comes from your inside, from your heart and what you love, it is when you get better results. The best way to form a group is having 4 different profiles, the structural is the one that plans and that is more logical almost always thinking on technical drawings, the doer is the one that likes action and thinks of building, the mythic is the one that thinks in fantasy the crative and the why is the one that always thinks further and asks why about everything.

problem

Before you start with the creative process is good to make use of an icebreaker, it was really helpful not only to have empathy with your group, but also to wake up your mind, the icebreaker can be anything didactic you do in group, I think is the best technique to start whatever work or process. The first step for a creative process is the problem definition where you start defining what you are going to focus on and for that we learned different tools to have a better vision of the whole system some of the usefull tools are:

5 WS AND 1 H: it is to start asking why over and over 5 times and at the end ask how. Ex: Problem statement: drink cofee…why drink cofee? To be awake….why be awake? To enjoy the day…why enjoy the day? To share with the ones you care…why share with the ones you care? To have stronger relationships and how can we have stronger relationships?...That is a completely new problem that we can focus on. H2: Ask yourself questions as how to...? How could we...? In What Ways Might We...? Wouldn’t it be great if...? What if we were to...? We want people to... 12

Progressive abstraction: you have means to get to an end, the tool consists on asking why over and over again, ask for what and then ask how are you going to get to that end.

end

why?

means

how?

Forward/Backward planning: to think what is happening today, and what happened in the past that makes everything be this way in the present and then think how could we make it better in the future to achieve our goals. when we used this technique it made us think in a kind of perfect future and perfect solutions.

Future perfect: Imagine what would it be if everything in the future could be perfect! this was a tool that helped us going beyond our imagination without barriers that limit our ideas.

Pestel: to explore all the following dimensions in a situation. OLITICS CONOMY OCIAL ECNOLOGY COLOGY AWS

To express all of these tools we used creating sketching such as mind maps, drawing the whole situation and storyboards. It really made us improve the hability of synthesizing and quick drawing!

IDEA GENERATION

CREATE Idea generation

The most difficult part for me became the most fun stage to work on, using tools that helped us opening our imagination however there are a thousand of tools, the ones we used and learned helped us improve our creativity.

Use inspiration to generate ideas, thnk of a referent or use collages or even look for the similar things that already exist and in that way you can get better ideas by taking them from inspirinf of other elements.

If we think about the atributes of a product we can generate ideas by thinking what other things can have the same function. Ex: A water bottle, one of its attributes is it contains water...what else contains water? a sponge, so what i f our bottle had a sponge inside that can contain more water in less sapace it is really helpful to make analogies and use metaphors to generate ideas for example teaching is like planting, you start with a seed and start to water it...teaching is also a process so we can start thinking in ideas coming from the idea of planting. 14

You can never imagine that you can associate completely different things and bring new ideas from it. the association tool can be use in different ways. SWEET LOUD

Tree-Swing -Kid-PlayVideogame

bandage-hurtdoctor- presentpandebono

Chain: make association of the last word you have in the chains

Force Fit: make the first word and the last word join together by other words making associations

PINK

GIRL SHINE

BEAUTY

HAPPY Flower: makes association with one specific thing.

Who could think that a superheroe can help us generate ideas? or thinking if the situation were horrible. Well if you think like that you can have great solutions turning them logical. Ex: how could baymax (he is a medical heroe) go to the bathroom...well he could analyse if it is clean to be protected from germs...so what if we han a sensor when the bathroom is dirty... Breaking walls and expanding the solution space is to start asking yourself and what if over and over againg t gains more space and more ideas in a completely new solution space, THREE STAGES OF IDEA GENERATION From memory & logic No’s of ideas

Silly ideas

New useful perspectives

To express all of these tools we used creating sketching such as brainsketching, brainwritting, brainstorming, explorative and explanatory drawings.

This special edition of TED TALKS FP (Future Perfect) was a great experince where i understood and put in practiced in such a small period of time what we learned in a week and in my opinion this course and this work achieved what i wanted in my personal contract. We worked for a specific client that needed to used computer machine, big data or computer vision into a better use. We started with making a plan of the process we wanted to do and the timing. For the problem definition using PESTEL, H2 and decided we want people to spend more time together and then used creative sketching to draw the whole system. For the idea generation we used brain storming, association and superheroe. Then order all the ideas and used CBOX to make

a selection of the ideas. Finally we improved our ideas with some help of our client and started to think more about the solution. We made the presentation at TED TALKS in 2021 where we presented “LOFa device that keep you connected with the ones you love. More than the solution that we got, was the experience of this course and all the knowledge i adquired and you can be capable of doing what you think you can because of excuses like time, after this i thinking everything is possible if you do it with passion and not because you will receive something from it. With this work i noticed not just for academic space but for life and future opportunities we can use everything we learn.
