The Village Encore Band Spring Concert

Broadway! There’s nothing like it. The music from shows such as “Sound of Music,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “The Lion King” and “Les Misérables,” to name a few, will weave a certain magic that will keep you entertained and create a desire to hear more. This is a concert not to be missed!

Jay Smar, Irish Music Old and New

Critically acclaimed and award-winning folk musician Jay Smar returns to entertain us. Armed with two guitars, baritone vocals, a claw-hammer banjo and fiddle, Jay serves his audience an “acoustic buffet” with a side of flat-footin’ (a form of clog-dancing). His performance will feature familiar Irish singa-longs and more “traditional” Irish music of the motherland with mandolin and other instruments.

The Celtic Martins bring new energy to the Celtic music and dance scene, featuring Irish and American fiddle tunes, along with numerous Irish step dance routines. The band consists of the award-winning fiddling Martin sisters, Emily, Melissa and Christy; brother Brian on drums and guitar; brother Zach on fiddle; dad Nelson on guitar; and mom Elaine on bass.

Spartan World Championships with Mailman Mychail Mitchell

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22, 2 P.M.

The Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races of varying distance and difficulty, ranging from three miles to marathon distances. The first weekend of November each year, the Trifecta World Championships take place in Sparta, Greece. Laid among the mountains and ancient olive groves, this race is one of the most grueling in the world. Masonic Village’s mailman, Mychail, will discuss his personal experience at the 2022 race.

Solomon Eichner, Pianist

Originally from Baltimore, Solomon Eichner graduated with his Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, having studied with Arkady Aronov, and Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, having studied with Alexander Shtarkman. Equally at home with solo, chamber and concerto performances, Solomon has established himself as an exciting versatile young artist. He is known for his commanding performances of the romantic keyboard repertoire. When not concertizing, Solomon maintains a faculty position at the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute.

Abandoned as a girl, Kya raised herself in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the marsh girl haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her own community. Drawn to two young men from town, she opens herself to a new and startling world. However, when one of them is found dead, Kya immediately becomes the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening many secrets. Double Play Flute and Tuba

Double Play Flute and Tuba celebrates it’s 34th season in 2023-24; as the world’s only full-time professional flute and tuba duo, their repertoire spans 300 years of musical history. Founded in Arizona and now based in Michigan, this husband and wife team has entertained and “informed” audiences of all ages in 45 states. They will present “Tunes for Two” featuring some their favorite arrangements from the world of opera, Broadway, and instrumental music.
