Art Classes

The Art Studio has been busy this year with new classes and workshops: beginner to advanced watercolor painting, pour acrylics, pastels, watercolor pencils, alcohol pour wine glasses, zentangles and collage, to name a few. No skills necessary; only a sense of adventure to try something new.

There will be no organized art classes in the studio over the summer, but we’re still open. Watch for pop-up classes on Channel 956 and/or flyers on the Art Studio door. Come create with us during Open Studio Hours (no registration required).

Morgan Hezlep

Morgan Hezlep, 90, has never painted anything in his life, but over the years he has enjoyed watching plein air artists on the beaches near St. Simon’s Island. He took an art class one day, anxious that he was going to be awful, but excited to try. That was more than six months ago. In that time, Morgan has created two landscapes, a bowl of flowers and a cardinal. He is now learning how to paint a seascape, using Japanese tissue paper for threedimensional rocks on the shore. Over the next few Village Living issues, we will highlight others like Morgan, who didn’t feel they were creative, and are now happily producing beautiful artwork.
