Tour of the PA Capitol
MONDAY, OCT. 4 Pick-up: 8:30 a.m. Return: Noon Free
Pennsylvania’s Capitol was officially opened on Oct. 4, 1906. Today, the capitol, with the addition of a modern East Wing in 1987, covers 5.5 acres. The building is a functional seat of government, where laws are passed, and public policy is set for over 12 million residents of Pennsylvania. Extensive walking is required for the tour. Please note: All visitors – no exceptions – will be processed through metal detectors. All bags and packages will be X-rayed. Confiscated items will not be returned.
LSO Neighborhood Series
This series is taking the place of the previous Open rehearsal program and is designed to be more engaging and approachable. Each program will be a full performance, and it is a pay-whatyou-wish concept. The scheduled performance is the 21st Century Orchestra in 60 minutes, featuring Copland, Fanfare and Braham’s Hungarian Dance No. 5, plus other favorites. This program is from 7 – 8 p.m. and is located at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.
Dorothy Rose Smith Concert
Enjoy flutist Jocelyn Crosby and pianist Doug Wimer as they perform a variety of music for your listening pleasure. Jocelyn is a flute soloist and freelance artist in the Lancaster region. Doug is a master’s graduate of Westminster Choir College and is also from Lancaster. This concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. and is located at Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. A free will offering will take place at intermission.
Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, Located in Strasburg
This museum has one of the most significant collections of historic railroad artifacts in the world. It displays 100 locomotives and cars from the mid-19th and 20th centuries. There is a 20-minute orientation before your self-guided tour.
National Watch & Clock Museum
The National Watch and Clock Museum has more than 12,000 items and is recognized as the largest, most comprehensive horological collection in America. This museum is located in Columbia. Cost is $5, and payment will collected at the museum.
American Music Theater Presents “Winter Wonderland”
This highly anticipated and critically acclaimed live music production will ignite your spirit and set your heart aglow. RSVP is needed by Oct. 15.
