If the taxpayer does not have the password to his account on the income tax department’s portal, the net banking account method would be most suitable to him. He can log into his account on the ITD’s portal by using the net banking acount. Only in Aadhaar based EVC, the EVC is sent to the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card. In all other cases, the EVC is sent to the mobile number registered on the tax payer’s account with the ITD’s e-filing portal. It is important to update the mobile number in the account on ITD’s portal before sending the request for the EVC.
