Originally built in 2003, the OK1 Go Kart Center in Greece’s second largest town of Thessaloniki is upping its game to the next level with the help of IPK.

Aiming to provide more than just fun rides on go-karts, the OK1 Go Kart Center partnered with IPK and decided to get into serious karting. The OK1 Go Kart Center was originally built in 2003, as a leisure kart track. Located in a big shopping complex, just five minutes from the airport and ten minutes from the city centre, it was a place to enjoy some adrenaline behind the wheel. However, it didn’t last very long and closed its doors in 2007. It was another three years until its current owner and manager, Mr. Nousopoulos, took it over and reopened it in May of 2010.

Since then, he has strived to offer an ever improving service to the customers and transform the track from a purely leisure venue to something more serious. Among the improvements were laying new tarmac, getting a new fleet of karts and the new timing system with online lap records.

Now, with the new partnership with IPK, the OK1 Go Kart Center is set to offer both an even more exciting experience to hobby drivers and a door to the motorsport world to young talent.

The OK1 Go Kart Center’s track is 550 metres long, with a width varying from 6 to 8 metres, enough for safe racing and overtaking. Its 14 turns (9 right and 5 left) are illuminated by 14 light projectors, so racing can take place even at night. The visitors stand by the pits provides all the necessary comforts, with air conditioning and soft drinks or snacks available to those waiting for a drive.
