At school I was always told to follow the path that I was most passionate about. The problem was that, I loved history, math and painting all equally. It would have been unfair to fit myself into a category. It was only when I came across the field of architecture that I found answers to each and every discipline I was ever taught at school. It enabled me to look beyond the surface and dive deep into this newfound realm that had unlimited possibilities. I love this quality of the field of architecture which makes it an an open-ended discipline, where every single day comes with an opportunity to learn. Every time I think that I have seen it all, life here amuses me with something new.

Description - a classroom design assingement in competance for the waldorf education system Semester - 3rd Sem Mentor - Prof. Yashika Tijoriwala Duration - 3 weeks
The design esquiee was done in response to the Waldorf education system. The idea was to imitate a gurukul where teachings happen in the open .The outside environment remains dynamic. Thus an effort was done to recreate the dynamics of the outside with the comforts of the inside.Breaking from the cemetery style classrooms, it was built to the scale of the children.
SITE PLAN
The form was brought forth by experimenting with levels. These levels facilitate play and increase classroom mobility. They tend to make a classroom environment more dynamic as opposed to a static even floored classroom. PRODUCED BY AN AUTODESK STUDENT VERSION

An effort was done to create an interplay of different volumes which would host different activities of the classroom. These volumes would represent different meanings and create different levels of comfort apt for the activities taking place.
A stepped classroom would increase visibility for the teacher and the students. Sitting on the floor would also benefit the physical health of the kids as it improves posture, flexibility and strength as well as gives freedom of movement.

design institute Description - the brief was to design a design institute for the faculties of communication design, product design, textile design and ceramic design. Semester - 6th Sem Duration - 3 months Mentor - Prof. Dipanwita Chakraborty.
The pedagogy of a design institution differs a lot from an institution of a theoretical realm. The method of instruction differs as the learning process is nonlinear. A significant amount of learning and development occurs through collaborations done amongst people with different expertise. So, the idea was to create spaces that can facilitate these collaborations, building bridges amongst students to increase their interaction. Open studio layouts are provided which can help the classroom furniture to be arranged in various configurations suitable for individual or team activities.

eco park Description - the brief was to redesign landscape and re-activate an abondened site. Semester - 5th Sem Duration - 1 month Mentor - Prof. Mayuri Deshmukh.
The site chosen was that of the Belapur Fort which comes under the jurisdiction of CIDCO. The fort lied in a dilapilated state and was a hotspot for a lot of antisocial activities. So the idea was to convert the area suitable for family gatherings and ocassions which would take place in a almost forest like setting but still wouldnt be far away from the city. A concious effort was made to retain the historiacal importance of the fort and thus it was kept as the primary focus. The rest of the landscape was developed with various ameneities around the fort.
why an eco park? The concept to design a morning and evening exercise park came from the successful examples of similar attempts in C.B.D. Belapur as well as Kharghar region.Such exercise parks aim to provide a natural and eco friendly background for exercise and recreation related activities for all age groups. The attempt is to not create a fenced city park but an eco-setting which merges with its surrounding giving an illusion of being far away from the town.
Belapur Fort is a fort near the township of Belapur in Navi Mumbai (New Bombay), Maharashtra, India. The fort was built by the Siddis of Janjira. It was later conquered by the Portuguese, and then Marathas. In the early 19th century, the fort was captured by the British. After the British gained supremacy in the region, with the expansion of the Bombay Presidency, the strategic importance of the fort declined, and it fell into disuse.

sans furniture Description - this project was a winning entry to the Space Design Competition at 3rd position Semester - 6th Sem Duration - 15 days Done in a group of two.
The design is a testament to the minimalist culture’s focus where nothing is added for effect. Emphasis is done on the creation of a space using natural light, materials and negative space to allow energy to flow through it. The use of a gender-neutral design strategy is done to ensure that the design enables equitable use by emphasizing the function of space, banishing any hints of being biased towards a particular gender. This is done through the use of a calming colour palette, geometry, curves, texture and a seamless form to create a poignant sense of clarity and freedom. Bare essential furnishings keep this living space from feeling cramped or cluttered letting the beauty of its white elements reflect and bounce the natural light. A tight edit, a concise color palette and paired down silhouette create a layered, warm, rich, and inviting space with a gallery-like setting as this is, after all, a place of comfort and refuge.

Description - this project was a second entry to the Space Design Competition, where the brief was to design a space within an enclosure of 3m x 3m x3m where a teenager could quaratine. Semester - 6th Sem Duration - 15 days Done in a group of two.
Our life is a quest for happiness. We try to do things that would help us become happier. And pursuing “more” is a common approach because we believe that having more of something means more happiness. So, the intent is to create a space which encourages to give up excess belongings that cause stress and distraction. A space meant to release, organize, and integrate specific thoughts, designed to promote relaxation, focus, and peace. Line, form, space, light and material are but a few of the essential elements central to a space of contemplation. Great value is placed on the absence of nonessential internal walls to open up a space and allow an organic flow between the structure’s interior and exterior. This allows to reduce all elements down to their core essential quality. In times where restrictions are imposed upon the explorations of the built environment, the space creates opportunity to look inside the build of one’s self, it leaves a feeling of intimacy, far away from a space with prying eyes.

WOOD WORKING A 10 day intensive wood workshop was held by Ar. Yashika Tijoriwala at the end of 3rd semester. We started this workshop with learning about the basics of the discipline from materials to tools. We got our hand on all kinds of tools, from the primitive ones to the power tools .We learnt about joineries and wood work without nails.
In the first phase of the workshop we started with the basics of woodworking tools, techiniques and making joineries.
At the end we made a lifesize gazebo by using those joineries.
CONCRETE TILE MAKING This 2 day workshop taught the making of concrete surfaces with custom finishes achieved through various oxides and particulate inlays. The tiles were first reinforced with a fibre mesh then filled with concrete. A proportinate mixture of white cement, marble powder and desired oxide was poured on the top. The tiles were later sanded and glazed. These could be custom made into any shape or casted directly on the surface.
UDRI
URBAN CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP
This extensive 21 day workshop was held by The Urban Development Research Institute at Mumbai, to study and asses the living conditions of the orginal as well as the migrant residents of the Versova Koliwada (Mumbai). It involved site work on the weekdays at the Koliwada and data analysis on the weekends at UDRI's office at Fort. The workshop gave an insight on the condition of water and sanitation facilities available at the Koliwada as well as the poor living conditions and hardships faced by the kolis.

@easy_easel Easy Easel is an instagram handle which i statred during the lockdown, wherein I experiment with different colours, colour palettes and surfaces . It was also done with the intention to test out what all could be done with cheap and easily accessible art supplies. The act of mixing random colours and anticipating the results turned out to be quite therapeutic and gave surprising results every single time.
