SWOT Analysis • Strength The advantage of having a new kind of tourism activity in Nepal means opening a whole new door in tourism sector. Lots of people would get a job which would help in economic growth of the country. Huge amount of foreign currency will enter into country. The import and export market would also grow. Establishment of new tourism activity means development of new infrastructure such as roads, electricity, health, education. This could mean potential establishment of new businesses which means more employment opportunity. • Weakness The weakness about this is that the country is going through a huge economic loss at this moment and trying hard to recover. So, it would be hard to establish new businesses and new tourism activities soon. The political instability of Nepal is major hurdle for any kind of business to start. There are strikes and revolutionary acts going on all the time which does not just affect the country’s situation politically but also the whole nation from small business to big ones and the people. The lack of proper developmental infrastructures is also major setback for any kind of tourism activity to establish and grow in the country. So, the first thing that needs to be done is the proper development of existing infrastructures and establishment of new ones. • Opportunity The opportunity is huge in case of establishment of new tourism activity. The prospect of opportunity is bright. New business means new job opportunity and new job opportunity means potentiality of economic development. This won’t just mean an opportunity for the people in Nepal but it also means an opportunity for the tourists to try new stuffs here in Nepal. This would provide an opportunity for the locals to start new business and sell their products in the market and earn for their livelihood. • Threats There are threats as well in doing this. Just because it’s a new business doesn’t mean it is going to do good and last long. Opening a new kind of business and being hit means having a competitor and a competitor means threat. The failure of new business or activity means economic loss. In this modern age of technology, the technology itself is a great threat. The technology advances each year and pretty quickly which means the it would be hard to keep up with that since the business would just be new and that is very expensive.

Accidents in the cable car transport system may be due to human error, failure of mechanical / electrical components, lack of maintenance of structural system, unsafe environment such as bad weather, volcanic eruption, etc. Design standards (phulchoki case)

The Academy is located on a hilltop, outside the Umm Al Yanabi village, above an abandoned limestone quarry. if sits on the northwest long side of the quarry continuing the rough craggy surface up into its main facade. The transition between the quarry face and the limestone facade of the Academy is not very clear from a distance, appearing as one volume. The distinction between the two only becomes apparent when one arrives at the build-

calculations (Phulchoki Case ) the minimum distance between vehicles in a station is 0.5 m since the speed is 6 m/s hence for - 3780 meters, the average time of arrival between the main stations is 10.3 min. the following table shows the average waiting time at station. 3780/6 = 610 sec • Assuming 1 car per direction (2 cars on both the directions) average waiting time at station = (610/2) / 60 = 5.25 5.25x60= 315 315-(3x60) = 135 sec average waiting time at station=5.25

ROYAL ACADEMY FOR NATURAL CONSERVATION Introduction The Royal Academy for Nature Conservation in Ajloun, Jordan, by Khammash Architects, is the continuation of the environmental and socio-economic programs of Jordan's Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature over the past 50 years. The Academy, built over an abandoned limestone quarry next to the Ajloun Forest Reserve, reclaims this scarred landscape for environmental education and eco-tourism. Forcefully thrusting vertically from the quarry, the design highlights the important role of the Academy as a symbol of ecological consciousness for the local populace and visiting eco-tourists.

Most of the Anjara limestone originated from the existing quarry on site, with additional stone secured from nearby quarries in Ajloun. Concrete blocks, terrazzo tiles, ironwork, insulation straw, cement, aluminum and glass windows/doors are from Jordanian manufacturers.

LIGHT AND VENTILATION

Wood and timber used especially in the pergola of the restaurant terrace and the interior doors were imported, as Jordan does not have domestic timber production.

ACOUSTICS AND INSULATION

Most of the front facade consists of solid stone and shows a small proportion of glass openings.

HEATING SYSTEM

In the rear facade, the proportion of glass openings increases, and the solid materials vary and include concrete, stone and wood.

RAINWATER HARVESTING

LOCAL ARCHITECTURAL CHARACTER

The Forest Tower – Camp Adventure Park

The corridors are defined by a crack in the ceiling that lets natural sunlight in and guides the visitor to the rest of the academy. The building has a very basic treatment of materials. It is made from Ajloun limestone from the site's quarry and other quarries that share the same strudel of rock.

in the lecture hall, plain concrete block is used for acoustic buffering and insulation in addition to straw in the wall sections. Cuts in the walls were kept exposed without plastering, which shows in the openings of the hall.

Using ground source heat pump which take advantage of the stable temperature underground using a piping system to heat the building during winter and cooling it during summer.

Location : Haslev DK Architect : EFFEKT Project Type : Camp Adventure Park Year : 2017 A unique experience in the forest canopy The Forest Tower in Camp Adventure Park is a new and unique experience destination. A 900 meter boardwalk connected to a 45 meter tall observation tower creates a unique opportunity to take a walk among the trees and experience the stunning nature of the preserved forest from another perspective. The tower and the boardwalk are seamlessly connected by a continuous ramp that makes the forest accessible to all - regardless of their physical condition.

A system for rainwater harvesting from the roof of the building was used. The architect used design solutions that allow the building to be in harmony with the site without the need for logging to complete the construction process. NATURE CONSIDERATION On the opposite side of the building facing the forest, which was not affected by quarrying activities, the academy touches the forest with a beautiful handshake. The building hovers over the forest and barely touches it. It has minimal footprint as the foundation columns cantilever tilts at 45 degrees above the forest floor, and cantilevered terraces with blade-like edges floats-almost like paper-above trees canopies.

INFERENCES 1. The project uses sustainable environmental design techniques and treatments such asventilation and natural lighting, rainwater harvesting system, and utilization of different underground temperatures for cooling and heating processes. 2. Materials used in construction are in harmony with the surrounding nature and the urban and historical character of the area. 3. 4. The project creates many direct employment opportunities for the people of the area to work in the Academy or the associated services.

INFERENCES • How we can provide accessibility through the woods and enable reaching of nature to everyone • Materials used in construction are in harmony with the surrounding nature and the urban and historical character of the area. • The project creates many direct employment opportunities for the people of the area • Protect the preserved forest and make it more accessible to the public.

5. Utilization of quarry residues in the construction process and transforming the negative impact of the site into a positive one by establishing the Academy for the Protection of Nature.

Although its vegetation composition is similar to the other forests in the valley, Phulchowki is widely regarded as the best place to observe birds locally. As per Nepali ornithologists, birds are easier to spot at Phulchowki than anywhere else around the valley. Perhaps the most well-known recommended and visited bird watching destination around Kathmandu- Phulchowki is located in the southeast of the city. The forests in Phulchowki cover the upper slopes of the Phulchowki hill, the lower slopes and extends into the Godavari. Phulchowki holds a great density of birds counting to around 300 species. Thus, one can observe the highest number of birds in a single day from this place.
