Retreat in Cyprus FALL 2015 Professor Faysal Tabbarah

I was assigned to design a retreat space for an writer in Cyprus. My main focus was how to integrate all kinds of lanscape ( olive grooves, rocky terrain and sea) available in the site to my project . So i started ooff cutting a long ramp from the olive groove through the terrain to enter the retreat with a framed view of the mediterranean sea.

Bathing Ritual SPRING 2016 Professor William George Sarnecky

We started off having a brick wall project in which we explorre the system of module or pixels and how tiny pieces in a whole reads to be composition creating variable spaces within it for in habitiation. In the second phase of the project we were asked to design a Bathing Ritual space in Dubai using the explorations in the first project. My design decision were basically created focusing on the context of Dubai. So i used the method of creating gradient of lighting with variable aperture created from the spacing of the bricks and also used the science of the traditional wind towers in my roof system to bring in the wind from higher altitude.

Artist in Residence SPRING 2016

Professor William George Sarnecky

We were asked to design a studio/exhibition space for two artists in a given site in Sharjah Art Foundation. One of the key requirements was to add the previously designed bathing ritual to this space. So i took it as the starting point for my design. Bathing ritual was the seed of my project which grows out in the site form an entire facade and also carves into form the entry which also regulates the services and zones .

Seeing and Drawing in Italy SUMMER 2015

Professor Brian Dougan

Learning to visually analyze space and objects in space and depict it in our A5 and A4 sketch books in both free hand and analytical types of drawing while experiencing the natural habitat and famous architectural sanctuaries in Italy.

Muweileh Library FALL 2016 Professor Christiano Luchetti

We were asked to design a library space in Muweileh street. Being the first infill project we got to design, it came with a lot of constraints. Main my driving principle was having two volumes. One volume being rigid element containg all the services and workspace while the other volume provides variable sectional space and free space fro reading and studying. Another important design factor was the connecting element of these two volumes, ie. a parametric core which contained vertical circulation that also extends in space to provide variable interesting space to experience . Both the volumes get wrapped with aluminium panelling

Gallery ‘of’ SPRING 2017 Professor George Katodrytis

The project started off with choosing or designning a prototypical structural system. Later, the prototypical system was developed to explore spaces and to form an architectural space for a gallery in Sharjah.

HYBRID (Frame/Pnuematic) Prototypical Structures

Working: Deployable frame connections controlled by the inflation of baloon

1, Prototype i (Small Scale) : Thin pentagonal deployable frames with single balloon.

2. Prototype II (Large Scale): Thick pentagonal frames with multiple ballons.

Process II : Freezing of the frames Prototypical Structures

Trial I : Plaster Cast (Half) Fibre Glass casting of the baloons and the frames .

Process III : 3D Digital Modelling Prototypical Structures

Movable frames and blowing baloons were modelled using the physics engine in Autodesk Maya. Further, editted the model using maya to form continuous accessible spaces within the baloons.
