INTRODUCTION As my part of second practicum of fourth year B.Arch. as per the university of Mumbai syllabus. I have chosen to attend my internship at KNasso in thane for a period of 16 weeks, starting from December 4, 2017. I learned the meaning of a proper teamwork and essential communication in the field of architecture during this internship. I would like to thank the team of KNasso for their guidance and immense knowledge. The report illustrates my work within KNasso and it contains a collection of project that I have been working on during the course of my internship. The first part will showcase the project I handled. Starting with a short introduction to the project and an explanation on my contribution to the final product. The next consists of my final reflection while working in this office. This section also consists of appendices, supporting documents and the feedback of my internship given.


KNasso ABOUT THE OFFICE

WAY OF OPERATION

KNasso is a sole proprietorship medium-sized practice located in thane west. the practice often deal with small to medium scale projects mostly in urban areas including commercial, residential, mixed development, service apartment. The office comprises of one principal architect, architect, interior team, technical person, 3D team with assistant, interns.

The principal architect and architects will lead a projects at once time and they will be assisted by their respective staff. The principal architect will foresee the process of project management during the entire course of project phases. Consultations will be done one-to-one between the project architect and the team to keep upto-date with the current state of the assigned tasks. Usually every employee is assigned to more than one projects and thus, time planning is crucial here to ensure every tasks are in order within a set of deadlines. As the office does not practice departmentalization, every person will be involved in many different parts of a project. All working files are saved on the private office server. Every project has its own secondary folder and updated date within the primary folder of the person who manages the project. The secondary project folder is divide into many parts ranging from documents or files related to and consultants to work in progress done by the office itself. Inside the tertiary folder created for files solely Managed by the office, it is further split into building plan submission, 3D, presentation, renderings, progress work and others. Typically, each file in these folders is named with a short description of the file and the date where each time the file is modified or updated.


PROJECTS I was assigned to different projects in different stages during my course off internship. I was assigned 19 different project during internship. I describe some main projects that I spend the most of my internship period working on them and other smaller project and tasks I handled in the office. I used the same “working titles” of these projects as we used in KNasso for an ease of understanding among the team here. These titles are usually named based on the location along with the names of the clients of these projects. Projects are usually ran simultaneously and the office work on long term projects so it is difficult to present this report in a chronological manner. In each project, I make a short description what the project was about and in which particular phase of the project when I joined the team. I will talk about my tasks and contribution to the final product of the project prior to my departure. The projects assigned:           

PHOTOSHOP – LANDSCPEING AND BUNGLOW ABOUT THE PROJECT

MY TASKS

Chunabhatti gardens, TDR garden, dahisar garden, ramoji garden and six bungalow, this all are Photoshop project. The projects at that time was in mid stage. The layout plan, sections had already been prepared before my arrival at the office. This was the first task I was officially assigned to.

As I was new to this project, it was crucial that I was given a thorough understanding of the project.

VASTU ANNAND GARDEN, KALWA ABOUT THE PROJECT

MY TASK

Vastu anand garden is the garden project between main road and service road in front of Vastu and society. T.M.C. want space for society people [senior citizen and children] and pedestrian public. Basically concept of the design is free flow design with contours or mound. This was second task I was officially assigned to.

For this project I was assigned in last stage of presentation to the client in the next meeting. Task was to complete the final power point presentation for meeting.



NEWS CENTER

Location: Amar ujala Publications Limited, C Block, Sector 59, Noida, Uttar Pradesh 201301. Area: 1157sqm Stage: start

ABOUT THE PROJECT this project developed on the basis of interior wise with use only half floor plate for design, remaining half palter for future expansion. The project was include free circulation space, private space and semi-private spaces. Design development:  

    

Free Flowing Plan Division of Space without visual partitions which allows uninterrupted view over the floor area Separate staircase access points to divide the user groups Visibility through the use of Glass instead of partition walls Open Design for Cabin allowing control over the floor area Centrally located Studio with PCR at the back Centrally located Conference area, accessible & visible from every corner

MY TASK For this project I made a proper floor planning according to project in charges. I rendered my final design after multiple changes to the design over 2-3 days. After that I made proper power point presentation for client meeting.

SOLITAIRE RESIDENTAIL BUIDLING

Location: Congo, central Africa. Stage: completion of Construction stage

ABOUT THE PROJECT

MY TASK

This is the residential building in Congo which is in V shape. Because of some curves and changes in exterior beam, the ACP sheet is not attached properly according drawing to be already submitted by contractor.

So, according to onsite construction is done, their some mm gaps in ACP sheet. According to exterior view we done manipulation and panel fixed it

As well as, I made an entry gate drawings for building. 3.5M, 10.5M of sliding gate and 1.5M, 4.5M of folded gate


STUDY CENTER ABOUT THE PROJECT The study center is a library for local students who truly need a space for study. The project was at the starting phase. Capacity of student is 30-40. The project was design according to Vastu Shastra. In this toilet position and entry of structure is important. I was attempt 2-3 alternative option according to client.so at the last 2nd option is finalize and we started drawing as per site. The structure is totally made by brick with light and ventilation system according to interior.

MY TASKS Firstly, I design or sketch a 2-3 presentation plan, then finalize one option by principal architect. After it made power point presentation for meeting, the client was local politician. The budget was 20lakh at initial state. The next step for this assignment was to make working drawings for plans, elevation, and sections. All the final drawings with details which I did over a period of two weeks on different days can be seen further.

MR.ARVIND PATIL BUNGALOW

ABOUT THE PROJECT Mr. Patil bungalow is located in the vasai area. The 3-story building consists of living, bedrooms, gym, kitchen, servant room, Pooja room, parking garage All drawings were prepared by senior architect and the task given to me was to draw the elevations and sections. As the new design, I had to draw the updated elevations and sections based on the given plan drawings.

MY TASKS I handled a small portion for this project in week 5. On the elevation and sectional drawings. I had to do some changes according to update floor plan. I completed my part of the assignment by adding dimensions to the drawings. I also check the RCC drawing cross check with elevation, section and view I also a chance to meet client to submit all drawings of this project.


MR.PRASAD TELANGI BUNGALOW

ABOUT THE PROJECT Mr. Telangi bungalow is located in the Roha. The G+1story building consists of living, bedrooms, kitchen, and Pooja room. It’s a small scale project. All drawings were prepared by principal architect and the task given to me was to handle this project completely. Made the floor plans, elevations, sections, staircase detail, UGT details and location plan and door and window schedule. I was tasked to prepare all types of drawings, queries in the ongoing construction.

MY TASKS I handled a whole project from start phase to end phase in week 7,9,11. On the elevation and sectional drawings. I had to do some changes according to update floor plan. I completed my part of the assignment by doing all drawings of the project. I also check the RCC drawing cross check with elevation, section and view. I also a chance to site visit, when the foundation is done.

SPORT COMPLEX

Location: veera desai road, Andheri. Area: 47,221sqm. Stage: start

ABOUT THE PROJECT

MY TASKS

Strategically located at Andheri which is the hub of commercial, residential and industrial. So well there is a proposal of sport complex by MCGM.

I handled a demarcation layout, compound wall detail, UGT detail, road section for this project in week 8,10,12,13.

The site was totally with contours, and surrounding area is low coast housing area [slum]. So mange this all things, project was started at plain site. MCGM officer continually changes the planning of sport complex according to BOQ. After a 2-3 week design was finalize and work  Site visit started.

I completed my part of the assignment by properly execute the plans as seen on the next page. I also design an administration part of sport complex. I also had a chance to go to site visit and attended meeting with client, contractor, and MCGM officer with my principal architect.

DESIGN PROPOSEL OF 90FT ROAD

ABOUT THE PROJECT

MY TASKS

An existing 90ft road will be entirely renovated to turn in to a new and simply beautiful. The assignment was to propose a new road side development for senior citizen, children, local public, and commercial use following the requirement in a design brief given by the client TMC.

As a major renovation beside road. The original design of the road were not present anymore, because new design is so creative and merge with each activity smoothly to enhance beauty.

Existing form and spaces were planned to be demolished to make way for new and bigger types of design. A new service was playing area, performance deck, flash mob, seating area, sculpture area, yoga area, jogging track, skating area, pathways, and it will also serve a landscape beatification. Addition of new facilities such as food truck area just because of earing purpose of local public and put hording as a commercial purpose. This promenade being popular among locals as well as tourists our design proposal is blend of vibrant interactive public spaces with unique design features As per public needs we have try to accommodate various public interactive spaces in the design proposal

In week 14-15, I was tasked handling the layout plan for this part, I focused on the addition of landscaping and activity spaces. the finished the assignment by rendering all the part of layout plan with different color, texture to indicate different functional spaces and 3D sketch up view before it was handed over to my senior architect for the next part. All my involvement in this project is reflected in the presentation drawings as well as power point presentation for client meeting as seen on next pages.

DESIGN Following are the public interactive spaces we have included in our design proposal to make promenade more interactive and vibrant. In tentative 200 M road we have create many pockets dedicated to different interactive spaces which has picturesque view of 90ft. Road. 1) Installations 2) Amphitheatre 3) Skate Area 4) Street Yoga Area 5) Street Play Area 6) Flash Mob Area 7) Garden Green patches have been created with seating spaces in between interactive spaces and jogging tracks on sides

DESIGN PROPOSEL FOR STATION ROAD

Location: Kalwa east, thane. Stage: start

ABOUT THE PROJECT

MY TASKS

To proposed a design like beautification and minimal things.

My task was proposed a good design, brief given by client. Made a layout plan and rendered it and 3D sketch up drawings as well as do presentation for meeting.

RESIDENTAIL COMPLEX

ABOUT THE PROJECT

MY TASKS

This project developed for middle class people in palghar. It’s a low cost housing project of four story buildings with phase system development. It’s a residential complex with 45 type of building.

The simple elevation is already made, my task was just to add a good elevation treatment within particular part only. For that I do some case study regarding to elevation treatment within India and literature study also.

Because of lost cost budget the elevation system is also in budget. The assignment here was slightly different compared to others had handled and was fairly straightforward. As the project was already in working phase, all was left to do was the good elevation treatment within the budget of the project.

I that also I think about project cost, lightweight materials, no use of reinforcement and as less as possible extended part.

GARDEN DEVELOPMENT TDR PLOT

This garden development project is located in kurla. This landscape project consist of play area, jogging track, water body, open gym, pathway. At the time, the project was in its final approval stage. I was assigned to prepare the onsite corrected layout plan, sections and make gazebo, waterbody, seating detail as per updated plan.

So it’s very challenging to mi to how to do a better elevation treatment in low budget, and how we use are creativity in this particular project.

BANDRA LAKE This is an on-going renovation project of beautification Bandra Lake, development of surrounding landscaping, step seating, sculpture, and connecting bridge on lake. I was assigned for renovation of connecting steel bridge over lake. I prepare the detail of steel bridge with plan, section, and elevation.

GARDEN DEVELOPMENT, WORLI This areas is already allotted for children play garden by MCGM. Garden area is 3219sqm and 2507sqm respectively. so, my tasks was just design it proper way as per brief by MCGM, is children play area, open gym, peripheral jogging track, seating, landscaping.

BUNGALOW LANDSCAPE This is the completed project which located in chiplun. I was assigned for this project because of creative landscaping. I prepared a 2 creative landscape option with horticulture specifications. Its include water body, pond, parking space, gazebo, seating. Also the detail of gazebo, waterbody and pathway.

NBB, BEWAR This is the G+2story bungalow which is located in bewar. Project is on almost complete stage but client wan a spiral staircase for terrace level to upper terrace level for service purpose. I prepared a simple M.S. spiral staircase plan, sections and detail of it.

ULLHAS SCOCITY This residential apartment project of 7story building with stack parking facilities. In this assignment, I prepared a ground floor building surrounding periphery paving pattern design. Tile size is 30 by 30 cm. the design are as follow:


MR.SURESH-BUNGALOW

PRESENTATION

This is the proposed 2 story building at vasai. The project consists of living room, puja room, bedrooms, and open terrace.

   

I assigned to prepare the rendered presentation floor plan for client meeting

BUNGLOW DESIGN, SANGOLI According to client brief and explanation he wants one 2+2BHK attach and detach ground structure bungalow. And he also want one 2BHK farm house with integrated space. My tasks was to complete the 3 bungalow in last week of my internship. I completed this bungalows drawing with rendered presentation floor plan for next meeting.

FINAL REFLECTION The internship at KNasso has definitely beneficial as an undergraduate student pursuing in the field of architecture. I was using and practicing my knowledge and skills I acquired throughout my previous semesters and applied them in the real-world situation. Most of the time I was working on design and graphics and details. I developed skills in many programs such as adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD and even learned a new program, google sketch up. I was also pleased that some of my colleagues requested my help with software issues at times. During this internship, I found out what are my strengths and weakness for my future career. I learned how the office work from the inside, the organization and responsibilities of employees on time management, scheduling and communication. Having meeting with consultant, contractor and clients allowed me to gain social experience e apart from work experience in this internship. As the office deals with all kind of projects. I understood a great variation of project management on such various scale projects and also the importance of acts and guidelines including the building bylaws. From the beginning, the Photoshop and presentation projects was guide mi to how explain your drawings and how to present it in a better way. In middle term I got to know the workaround of working drawings, designing, presentation drawings and how consultants and clients play their part in projects. The lastly projects allowed me to be involved in landscaping and planning. The experience of working in this office has enriched me to be able to become a member of an architecture e office, working with real professionals, brushing up my skills and knowledge gained at college and learning a lot of things I might not have heard or know. I am thankful to the team of KNasso [Kalpesh Nikam and associates] for this opportunity.
