As a group, our diversity is our strength and defining trait. Our aesthetic and philosophical differences have helped each of us formulate our personal vision. We are inspired to present our work as a collaborative editorial, which allows us to explore the connections, diversions, and conversations between our work as individuals. This book is our
statement.

The creations in this book represent the culmination of four years of intense and rewarding work. During their time here, our students have developed their creative voices within a collaborative environment that intertwines mastery of craft with the development of an individual vision and language. These collections also reflect the unique experience of learning fashion design at Pratt, which offers an immersive interdisciplinary environment grounded in the liberal arts. At Pratt, fashion students work alongside and draw inspiration from all kinds of creative professionals, including architects, writers, information professionals, and fine artists. This book is aptly titled Collective. Many of the looks were created by combining pieces from different students’ collections, demonstrating the exciting achievements that spring from collaboration and reflecting the community our graduating seniors have formed during their time at Pratt. 31
I am excited to watch these students embark on their careers because they are the designers who will shape the future of fashion through collaborative leadership and cross-disciplinary work. These graduates from Pratt’s Fashion Design department will carry the hallmarks of their education into this everchanging industry. I am confident that throughout their careers they will be recognized for their commitment to ingenuity, authenticity, and creativity, as well as for a personal vision that leaves its mark on contemporary culture.
