• Pre-registration is required for all classes!
• Register early so our instructors can plan and so that we don't cancel due to low enrollment.
• Classes may be cancelled if there is low enrollment.
• All registrations are taken on a first come first serve basis.
• Waiting lists will be established if a program is full. If a space becomes available we will contact you. You will not be charged for the class unless you are enrolled.

RESIDENT STATUS
Any person with a home Redwood City mailing address is considered a resident. A Redwood City P.O. Box or business address will not be taken as proof of residency. A non-resident is someone who lives in another city. But guess what? We don't charge non-resident fees for classes & camps!

REFUND & CREDIT POLICY- CLASSES ONLY
If a class is cancelled by the department, a full refund will be issued.
CLASS Cancellations made 1 week prior to the class start date will receive a refund less a $5 cancellation fee PER CLASS. The Summer Camp policy is different and can be found in the Summer Camp Section on page 42.
Students who wish to withdraw from a class less than one week prior to the start date will receive a department credit which may be applied to any future recreation department activity, less the $5 cancellation fee, PER CLASS.
In general, no refunds or credits will be issued after the class begins.
Students who are dissatisfied with a program for any reason must fill out a refund request form prior to receiving a credit so we can make the class better in the future. Credits and refunds will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the program supervisor. Form can be found here: www.redwoodcity.org/refund
This policy applies to our fee based recreation programs and not to: Adult sports leagues, building/facility rentals & fees, food concessions, special events, recreational (open) swimming, aerobics and fitness passes, trips and class materials.

Nine of Redwood City’s beautiful parks (highlighted in blue) have picnic areas to reserve year-round. Residents can reserve dates any time during the season, Non-Residents can reserve tables up to one year in advance. The cost varies per area. Park availability & area photos can be accessed online. This program is designed for children to develop social, cognitive, and physical skills in a stimulating and warm environment. Teachers implement a child-centered philosophy to create a curriculum responsive to all the children in the group. Children will be introduced to a variety of Pre-K concepts including language, math, art, science, music and movement. By creating an environment that balances teacher directed and unstructured activities, children will develop independence, confidence and a positive sense of the world around them.

A high energy, upbeat class with age appropriate Hip Hop typically to Pop, R&B music. Explore movement through isolation work, breaking, popping/locking, and choreography incorporating club and street movement. This is an aerobic and relaxed atmosphere where students can enjoy themselves. No experience necessary. Wear comfortable dance clothes (no belly showing) and tennis shoes that are not worn outside.
JAZZ HIP HOP

Learn basic jazz and hip hop steps while developing a sense of rhythm, posture, and balance in a fun, and engaging environment.

Learn how to dance in a dance school you can grow with! This class is specifically designed for children who have had very little or no dance training. Beginners welcome. BEGINNING : Your dog is taught to sit, down, stay, come, heel and easy (walking nicely at the end of the leash without pulling). The dog is taught o move freely and easily with the collar, so one day you barely have to use it! The dog is also taught to perform things and to willingly do or not do things, not just be prevented from doing them. Verbal and/or physical praise from owner is given. This builds a relationship between owner and dog. Any specific problems you are having will be addressed and cured in class or by a lifestyle change at home. You will need a 6 foot comfortable leash. Instructor will supply the nylon collar.
INTERMEDIATE: This class will instruct students in off-leash control. This iis done with the addition of a 30 foot long line.

Designed for students who have some experience on hand drums to dig deeper into understanding the rhythms that surrounds them, and to integrate them into their lives, while learning to lead as well as to work as a team. This two-week series is designed to introduce Belly Dance students how to play Basic Finger Cymbal patterns. Class focus will be learning to play the Finger Cymbals while sitting or standing. We will talk about making sure the elastic in your finger cymbals is properly fitted to insure ease while playing. We’ll cover proper hand and arm placement and techniques for getting the best sound from your cymbals. At the end of the session, we will try to match some of the patterns we learned to basic Belly Dance steps. Class materials will include a print-out of Basic Finger Cymbal Patterns. PERSIAN BELLY DANCE FUSION

Learn a combination of Egyptian Style Belly Dance with the elegance of Persian Dance movements and fundamentals of posture, isolations, steps, and shimmies. Tap is a rhythmic and percussive dance form that was born in the US. Tap offers a variety of styles and techniques including classical, Broadway, and rhythm tap that can be performed to any kind of music. This class is for someone who has some basic experience tapping. Students will develop a sense of rhythm and dance coordination while having a great cardiovascular workout. Learn how to cruise the bay on our sit-on-top kayaks. They are an easy and fun way to exercise while seeing part of the Bay few get to enjoy. This class is geared to those who have never tried a kayak or want tips on how to be successful. We teach proper form, maneuvering and how to navigate the inner harbor/Bair Island. If you are experienced but want a refresher course please see our Return to Paddling class. Participants 10-17 years old are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Enjoy family time on our very sturdy kayaks. We will see birds and probably a seal as we cruise the wetlands. Depending on the temperature and what people want to do, we may ride waves.
Children must bring at least one adult who will also participate. Adults must be accompanied by at least one child aged 10 to 17. Adults may bring as many children as they can safely manage. We suggest no more than three. Each participant must pre register.

The "Reading Buddies" Program in an Intergenerational Learning Partnership between the VMSC and Little Learners Preschool Program at Red Morton Community Center. Pre-registration is required for all Camps!
• In-camp registrations will not be accepted.
• Register early! Many camps fill before their start dates.
• Camps may be cancelled if there is low enrollment.
• Mail In & Fax In receipts will be mailed. We will not call you to confirm your registration.
WAITING LISTS
• Waiting lists will be established if a program is full.
• If a space becomes available we will contact you.
• You will not be charged for the camp unless you are enrolled.
• If you wrote a check for several classes and you are put on the wait list, the remaining balance of your check will be automatically credited to your account for future use in our programs. If you would like a refund, please contact us at 650.780.7311.

CANCELLATIONS BY DEPARTMENT: If a camp is cancelled by the department, a full refund will be issued.
TRANSFERS: Children can be transferred into a different camp provided there is space available prior to the start date, without penalty.
NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER THE CAMP BEGINS. However, your satisfaction matters most to us and refunds or credits will be considered. Participants who are dissatisfied with a program for any reason must fill out a refund request form prior to receiving a credit so we can make the camp better in the future. Cancellations made within the two week window will receive a department credit (less $10/$50 per camp) which may be applied to any applicable Recreation Department activity. Credits may be used by any member of the family.
Payment Plans
PLAY-AWAY PLAN!
Some camps will offer the option of a payment plan. These camps will be marked with a pink piggy bank. You can select the payment plan option during the check out process. Camps must be paid in full prior to the start date. Payments will be automatically withdrawn using your credit card, debit card, or checking account. Please read the terms carefully.

Availability is limited and is allocated by need on a first come, first served basis. All supporting documents and applications must be submitted for applications to be processed. Once approved, applicants will have 5 business days to pay a non-refundable 25% deposit. All payments must be paid in full by June 16, 2023. Camps that are not paid in full will be cancelled, and deposit forfeited.

Choose your own Adventure with BRIDGE CARE
While we have a ton of camps this Summer, these camps are all a part of our Bridge Care program which offers kids and their parents flexibility in planning for the week! You will need to sign up for each camp separately and for the applicable Bridge Care for that week. Our staff will pick your child up from their morning camp, take them to Red Morton Center to eat their lunch, and then walk them safely to their afternoon camp or just wait until you pick them up!
Can't find an afternoon camp? Sometimes we don't have one that fits, but you can use Bridge Care to get that extra hour of camp you might need to use if you have another child to pick-up, errands to run, or just want another hour of camp! Also, some camps provide lunchtime care between their AM & PM offerings, or have a full day at a discounted rate. See individual listings for details.

Bridge Care is a way for you to customize a camp experience that fits your schedule and your child’s interests. Volun-TEEN Adventures aims to introduce Redwood City youth to local non-profit organizations, while developing a culture of volunteerism in our youth and highlighting the significant impact that even one person can have on the lives of others, animals, and the environment. Camp participants will visit various non-profits while earning community service hours during visits to different agencies. Staff will begin each day with discussions and team-building activities that highlight the importance of empathy, responsibility, leadership, and community. Are you interested in gaining professional experience while working hands-on in a fun summer camp setting?
The Leaders in Training program (L.I.T.) gives teens the opportunity to develop important job and life skills, while preparing for future employment through training, hands-on experience, and evaluation. L.I.T.’s will learn leadership and problem-solving skills, while working with Camp Staff and youth campers throughout the summer.
Please note: There are limited spaces available and although we take into consideration camp preferences, camp placement is based on specific camp needs. There is a maximum of thirty (30) L.I.T.’s per session assigned to our various camps throughout Redwood City.
All applicants must submit a written application, with payment, and the most qualified will be asked to interview. Applicants must be 13 by the first day of training (Saturday, 6/10) to participate.

with the Redwood City Fire Department Staff Ever dream of being a firefighter? Participants develop life long skills not only learning about emergency preparedness, but also how to work together to accomplish tasks.
Taught by professional firefighters, participants learn skills including: First Aid, CPR, exit drills, fire extinguisher use, disaster preparedness, and home safety. In addition to the practical skills they can use everyday, participants learn what it's like to be a firefighter by extinguishing fire with fire hoses, proper lifting techniques for moving ladders and hose, hose management, and they even get to climb the 100 foot tall ladder! All activities are optional, but positive, encouraging attitudes are not. This is a great opportunity to explore a day in the life of a firefighter!

On any given day at Tutu Camp, a child might take a ballet class, decorate costumes, learn the story of a famous ballet, or even take part in a production of their own creation. Kids Dojo is a non profit dedicated to building confidence through mountain biking. Our mission is to help kids be active, confident and healthy. We believe that mountain biking builds self-esteem and enables children to experience the great outdoors while keeping their heart healthy and finding an exercise they love and can do for life.
We teach basic mountain biking skills to kids 8-14 in a fun safe environment. Our program is designed to meet each rider at their ability and enable them to flourish and become conscientious, controlled and confident cyclists. Your child will improve both their cycling ability and their self-confidence in an environment that is safe, fun and has great riding.
Each day we ride different trails and pump tracks and practice skills while learning trail etiquette and enjoying the outdoors. The first day of camp is an easy ride so we can guage skills. We will spend time at local pump tracks to re-hydrate, rejuvenate, to unwind and practice skills. You can expect your child to be tired, dirty and hungry at the end of the day! Please be sure to make sure your child drinks plenty of water when they get home.
Kids Dojo offers scholarships to support under privileged and former foster youth in getting fit. Scholarships are awarded annually on a rotating basis; there is no specific deadline for applications. To request an application, email recreation@redwoodcity.org

The goal for All In Baseball's Youth Summer Camps is to help our kids fall in love with the game of baseball! In order to do that we will be teaching the basic fundamentals of the game each day and creating life long friends and memories! Gameplay at All In Baseball is unique because all campers will play the entirety of the game, there is no sitting on the bench! Come enjoy the waters of the Bair Island wetlands from a solo boat. This camp is a great way for middle schoolers to be outside in a safe way while learning a new sport. If you are tired of looking at a screen, come try a kayak, stand up paddle board or rowing. Learn a new sport (or improve your skills) while learning how to read the water, wind and tide and how to safely boat and navigate our local waters. This is a fun class in a beautiful location.
Campers need to bring a towel and water bottle; and sign the BIAC waiver. Participants must bring their own personal floatation device (PFD) if they have one. We have some available, if needed.

Youth Classes of 3-6 players will consist of six 55 minute lessons, four 85 minute lessons, or four two hour lessons. Terrific Tiny Tennis classes will consist of six 40 minute or four one hour lessons. Players provide own rackets.

AGE 11-14
Special Service, only 3-6 players! Develop the essential techniques with emphasis on control, depth, and direction. Lessons will also incorporate rules, sportsmanship, and basic doubles play.
QUICKSTART TENNIS
AGE 8-10
Special Service, only 3-6 players! Learn simple & efficient techniques on the “60 ft. court” with low compression tennis balls. Emphasis on control, consistency, sportsmanship, & FUN! In general, we recommend the 25” racket.
JUNIOR LOW INTERMEDIATE TENNIS
AGE 11-14
Special service! Only 3-6 players per class! For players who are consistent on a slow pace rally but needs better depth, directional control, and use of spin. Review and strengthen stroke techniques with more emphasis on basic strategy and tactics.
