IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted this year’s summer camp offerings in many ways. We have completely restructured our programs to align with the current San Mateo County Health Order and have adjusted our protocols to match recommendations by the Department of Public Health, Center for Disease Control, and guidelines from the American Camp Association. Please read about these changes thoroughly to decide if coming to camp this summer will be a good fit for your family. The number of spots available is limited. Residents will have priority. If we are not full by one week prior to camp, we will open registration up to non-residents of neighboring cities.
SESSIONS There will be three sessions. Unfortunately, due to school schedules and staff limitations our general recreation camp session does not align with our specialty and sports camps sessions. Recreation Camps (High-5, Kaboom, Stulsaft Park Camps, Whatchamcallit): July 6- July 31 Specialty & Sports Camps Session 1: June 22 - July 17, Specialty & Sports Camps Session 2: July 20-August 7 or 14 Wilderness Session: August 3-14 (ends prior to school starting)
BEFORE YOU ENROLL Please make sure that your family can abide by the guidelines set by the San Mateo County Health Order and that your child is ready to adhere to social distancing and health & safety rules and regulations.
SAN MATEO COUNTY HEALTH ORDER GUIDELINES • Summer Camp group size is limited to 12 children (Pod) per room or space. • Summer Camp sessions must run for at least three or four weeks. • Children and staff must remain in the same pod for at least three or four weeks. • Camps with multiple groups cannot change or mix for the duration of the program, essentially becoming your “Secondary Household.” • Families will be responsible for the health and safety of their new household. Children enrolled in our camps must commit solely to our program and may not attend more than one childcare establishment, summer camp, or sports camp simultaneously. This means that if any child is attending any childcare establishment, summer camp, or sports camp, that child may not enroll in another unless or until they have permanently stopped attending the first. • Parents from the same family or household unit should seriously consider enrolling their children in the same summer or sports camp, and children from the same family or household unit who do attend the same camp should be included in the same group within that camp to the greatest extent possible; however, it is not required that children from the same family or household unit attend the same camp. • Per the San Mateo County Health Order, attendance at all weeks of each session is mandatory. Participants may not skip any week or they will be withdrawn and there will be no refund. • Children will be screened daily for health at drop off. • Parents should not bring their child to camp if: 1. Any member of the household, including the child coming to camp had fever, cough, or shortness of breath in the last 24 hours. 2. If the child had contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus in the last two weeks.

IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION PRE-CAMP COMMUNICATION & HEALTH SCREENINGS
All parents should receive an email each Wednesday prior to the start of camp. This will include information such as where to drop off and pick up your child, what to bring, special activities information, contact information and emergency forms, and all other important information. We will also be asking you to confirm that your child has not been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 nor has experienced any symptoms in the past couple of weeks. If you do not receive this email, please let us know!
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring a healthy bag lunch (unless your camp serves lunch), a snack, and refillable water bottle to each day of camp. Please wear and bring sunscreen as all camps will spend some time outdoors. Please wear appropriate clothing to camp: sneakers (closed toe shoes), layers, etc.
FACE COVERINGS
Children under 12 do not have to wear a face covering per the San Mateo County Health Order. If you wish for your child to wear a mask, please make sure that it is safe for them to do so. More info here: https://www.smcgov.org/covid19-face-covering Camp Staff will be required to be masked when interacting with Campers at a distance of less than six feet, and in interactions beyond six feet when interacting with parents and the general public. Reusable masks must be washed daily and disposable masks will also be available for staff to ensure theirs and participants safety.
SHARED EQUIPMENT
While within their stable group, children and caregivers/counselors are not required to social distance from each other and may share equipment. In most camps, campers will have individual sets or kits to work with, however there may be times when some items must be shared (e.x. Sports equipment, some cooking equipment, etc.) If feasible, shared equipment will be limited to items that can be effectively cleaned. Please check the individual camp descriptions for more information.
BATHROOMS
Each camp group of 12 (Pod) will have their own dedicated gender neutral restroom.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Please be sure to inform us of any important medical conditions prior to the start of camp. Please check the CDC website for more information about which medical conditions are at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19. https://www.cdc.gov/ coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-at-higher-risk.html
DROP-OFF & PICK-UP PROCEDURES
Due to strict safety standards, this process will look very different than in usual years. Parents and caregivers will be unable to enter any of our camp classrooms, facilities, sports fields, or spaces where camps are taking place. Drop-offs and pick-ups will likely happen in front of our facilities, curb-side, or in designated areas of our parking lots. You will not be able to observe the camps.
DAILY HEALTH CHECKS
Temperature of children and staff will be taken with a no-touch thermometer prior to entering each facility / outdoor space. Any camper or employee who records a temperature over 100.3ยบ F, or who is displaying symptoms such as dry cough, shortness of breath, or chills, will be immediately asked to go home. If your child is experiencing these symptoms in the morning before camp, please notify us immediately 650.780.7311.
ATTENDANCE
Attendance at all weeks of each session is mandatory. Participants may not skip any week or they will be withdrawn from the camp and there will be no refund. If your camper skips a day not due to illness, please call us at 650.780.7311 and let us know, or contact the camp lead directly. Children exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or staying home due to not feeling well should contact us immediately at 650.780.7311 or email us at recreation@redwoodcity.org.

RESIDENT REGISTRATION
• Registration for in-person camps will begin on June 8, at 10am. • Registration will be ONLINE ONLY www.redwoodcitycamps.org • Need help? Call 650.780.7311 a team member will get back to you shortly.
NON-RESIDENT REGISTRATION
We will only open up spaces for non-residents of immediately neighboring cities if camps are not filled. Date TBD.
REGISTRATION POLICIES PAYMENT PLANS While registering online, you will notice the option to select a payment plan. Camps must be paid in full prior to the start date. Payments will be automatically withdrawn using your credit card, debit card, or checking account. Please read the terms carefully. June 22-July 14 Session: No payment plan available. Full payment due upon registration. July 6- July 31 Session: Payment plan available. Pay full amount upon registration OR pay 20% deposit with final payment due on June 30. Failure to pay on due date will result in removal from camp. July 20-August 14 Session: Payment plan available. Pay full amount upon registration OR pay 20% deposit with final payment due on July 14. Failure to pay on due date will result in removal from the camp.
REFUNDS & TRANSFERS • If a camp is cancelled by the department, a full refund will be issued. • • • •
If the camp needs to close due to illness, a prorated refund will be given for missed days. Camps cancelled 1 week prior to the start date will receive a refund less a $50 cancellation fee per activity, per child. Refund requests must be made at least 1 week prior to camp start date or all camp fees may be forfeited. Materials fees are non-refundable by Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department.
• NO REFUNDS, CREDITS, OR TRANSFERS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER THE CAMP BEGINS. This summer, we are in the unique situation where children will join a camp for 4 weeks and will be unable to transfer into another program due to the creation of our stable cohorts. We have very few spaces. Please make sure that your family discusses the commitment you are making to the program. We understand that things are different this year and that change is hard, but it can also be an adventure. All we ask is that if things aren’t perfect, you will give us all an opportunity to work together to improve the situation. Our camp providers do not have an opportunity to backfill your child’s registration with a new participant and every exit to camp is a large loss and a space that someone else would have enjoyed.
PHOTO POLICY
Occasionally photos may be taken of campers enjoying our programs. These photos may be used in future activity guides, social media, website, pamphlets, flyers or enews. We never identify campers by name, unless permission is given by the parent.

After first building a sanding block and supertop, kids may choose from a wide variety of fun projects including: boats, clocks, games, trucks, doll furniture, and many more.
