For the Teacher: Talk to children about different types of plants & also about the variety of things we get from plants & trees.

Trees

For the Teacher: Compare & contrast between the types of trees which grow in coastal (coconut), tropical (mango), desert Palm tree Coconut tree Mango tree Pine tree © Deepshikha Books & Info Services (palm) & high altitude areas (pine). Tell them that the trees can be of different shapes. Trees purify the air, give shade & keep the place cool. So it is wrong to cut trees.

Parts of a plant

For the Teacher:Talk about the different parts of the plant. Explain that the roots hold the plant firmly in soil & absorb nutrients; the stem bears the leaves, flowers and fruits.

For the Teacher:Talk about the different flowers. Point out that flowers differ in number of petals, colour, smell, size, shape, etc. Teach them the names of some common flowers.
