AIPLA DIIPL Strategic Plan 2020-2021


DE&I Task Force The DE&I Task Force project team compiles and disseminates best practices that have helped organizations advance their diversity, equity and inclusion goals, shares lessons learned from mistakes and initiatives that may or may not have worked for others.


Speaker Bank The Speaker Bank project lead will facilitate the management of the speaker bank tool which lists diverse AIPLA members who have volunteered for consideration as speakers for participation in AIPLA programming at Stated meetings and online programs.


'OGs of IP' The OGs of IP project team will put together events that highlight successful diverse attorneys who are willing to share their professional and personal journey to the top and can offer candid, concrete advice about their experience.


Drafting and Federal Notice The Drafting and FN project team will run point in coordinating the written response to any Federal Register Notice for which the DIIPL committee will take part.


Affinity Council The Affinity Council project team will lead our partnership with external affinity group IP sections whose issues impact our membership, including: HNBA, NBA, SABA, NAPABA, AAJLJ, NAMWOLF, MCCA, National LGBT Bar, ABA, Association of Chief Patent Counsel (ACPC) , and IPO.


Diversity Champion Awards The Diversity Champion Award project lead manages the selection of the DCA. The award is aimed at one or more individuals who show a personal passion for diversity and inclusion in the profession. Prior recipients have demonstrated outstanding efforts alleviating bias and discrimination, have displayed outstanding leadership, and have led the successful implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives within their organizations.


BD for IP The BD for IP project team will focus on organizing a series of workshops that can help diverse attorneys focus on their business development strategies, providing concrete advice on topics like effective networking, developing a business plan, developing a personal brand, etc.


Diversity Liaison Program The Diversity Liaison project team lead manages the liaisons (i.e., Diversity Committee Representatives) to all other substantive AIPLA committees with the purpose of sharing DIIPL announcements and seeking partnership opportunities with those committees.


Special Programming The Special Programming project team will focus on organizing programming related to AIPLA Stated Meetings such as sessions, receptions, awards, etc. The Special Programming project lead will also help with other timely, special programs for which no other project team has responsiblity.
