2015

THE FIRST HOUSING PROJECT THAT I DESIGN . IT’S A HOUSE MEANT FOR A NEW MARRIED COUPLE. THE HUSBAND IS AN ARCHITECT AND THE WIFE IS AN AIR HOSTESS. THEY USUALLY THROW A PARTY WITH THEIR RELATIVE AND FRIENDS. SITE LOCATION IS NEXT TO THE OLD ONE. IT’S MORE LIKE EXPANDING FOR THEIR HOUSE. WITH THIS PROJECT, PROFESSOR AIM TO HELP US LEARN TO DESIGN A HOUSE AND UNDERSTAND HOW TO WORK WITH DESIGNING TOOLS.

-MR. CHANE (ARCHITECT) -MRS. GEE (AIR HOSTESS) -RELATIVE -FRIENDS THE KEY OF THE USER IS PARTY. FRIENDS AND RELATIVES OFTEN COME TO THEIR HOUSE SO THE SPACE FOR PARTY IS NEEDED. MR. CHANE IS AN ARCHITECT, HE NEEDS WORKING ROOM AND MRS. GEE IS AN AIR HOSTESS, SHE NEED SPACE FOR HER CLOTH AND MAKE-UP.

FORMING IDEA

PARTY IS THE KEY IDEA. THEY USUALLY THROW A PARTY IN THE GARDEN. SO I TRIED TO MINIMIZE THE HOUSING AREA TO MAXIMIZE THE GARDEN.

SITE

THE SITE IS ADJACENT TO THEIR OLD HOUSE. THE PARKING STAYS IN THEIR OLD ONE SO ACCESS TO THE SITE IS DIRECTLY FROM THE OLD ONE NOT FROM THE FRONT.

RENOVATION PROJECT FOR A NEW FAMILY. THE OLD TOWNHOME LOCATED ON CHARANSANITWONG 60 ALLEY. THE HOUSE USE AS A HOME-OFFICE FOR DAD AND A DIY-WORKSHOP FOR MOM. ALSO, IT NEEDS TO HAVE ENOUGH ROOMS FOR THEIR CHILDREN.

NOTE: SOME PART OF THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN REDESIGN. THE MODEL PICTURE MAY NOT LOOK THE SAME WITH RENDERING. BUT THE KEY IDEA AND PLANNING OF THIS PROJECT IS THE SAME.

-DAD AGE 42 (ARCHITECT) -MOM AGE 38 (ONLINE BUSINESS) -DAUGHTER AGE 4 -SON AGE 1 THE USER’S COMMON ACTIVITY IS COOKING AND FANCY CARP. NATURE IS RELAXING FOR EVERYONE. SO I TRIED TO MAKE EVERY CONNECTING FLOOR IS LINK WITH NATURE BECAUSE THE PRIVACY OF THE HOUSE IS SPLITTING CLEARY. THE FIRST FLOOR IS FOR PUBLIC USE, THE SECOND FLOOR IS FOR MOM AND DAD AND THE THIRD FLOOR IS FOR THEIR CHILDREN.

THE SITE IS LOCATED ON CHARANSANITWONG 60 ALLEY. NEXT TO THE SITE IS A SINGLE HOUSE AND A TOWNHOME. SO THE HOUSE CAN NOT HAS ANY WINDOW ON A SIDE BECAUSE OF THE LAW.


CONCEPT

NATURE CONNECTED THE FLOOR. LEARNING THE VARIETY OF THE VOID AND CONNECTING FLOOR TO AID THE DESIGN CONCEPT. THE OPENING NEEDS TO BE WIDE ENOUGH TO MAKE THE CONNECTION FEELS EFFECTIVE.

CHOSEN TYPE TYPE C + TYPE G TYPE G MAKE THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE BE MORE USEFUL AND FRIENDLY APPROACHING. TYPE B AID THE STAIR THAT USE TO BE DARK AND SOLID FEELS MORE BREATHABLE AND BRIGHT. WITH THIS 2 TYPE, WE CAN CREATE CONNECTING SPACE MUCH BETTER. THE STAIR IS KEY TO THE HOUSE BECAUSE IT’S CONNECTING EVERY FLOOR TOGETHER. TRIBLE VOLUME IN THE STAIRCASE IS HELP SUPPORTING THE FEELING OF THE CONNECTION AND ALSO CREATE A RELAXING SPACE FOR HOME OFFICE AND WORKSHOP.

THE 1ST FLOOR IS FOR PUBLIC USE. AS PRESENTED IN THE PLAN, WORKSHOP AND OFFICE USUALLY USE BY OUTSIDER. SO THE INNER COURT CAN BE USE AS RELAXING SPACE WHEN BREAK FROM THE WORKSHOP OR WORKING. KITCHEN CAN ALSO SUPPORT THIS 2 FUNCTION FOR COFFEE TIME. THE 2ND FLOOR IS FOR FAMILY USE. THE LIVING AREA IS THE CENTER OF THE FAMILY MEETING. WHEN OPEN ALL THE WINDOW, THE AIR CAN FLOW THROUGH THIS ZONE. ALSO ON THE TERRACE AND STAIR SIDE CAN SEE THE CONNECTING TREE CLEARLY.

ON THE 3RD FLOOR, THERE ARE ROOMS FOR CHILDREN. THE CHILDREN ALSO HAVE THEIR OWN LIVING SPACE ADJACENT TO THE STAIR TO FEEL THE NATURAL AIR FLOW.

INCRESING PRICVACY. THE SITE IS LOCATED AMONG THE RESIDENTAL SO THE PEOPLE ARE CROWDED.

CONCEPT

ILLUSION. USE HIGH REFLECTIVE GLASS TO REFLECT ING OUT THE EYESIGHT TO KEEP THE USER PRIVATE. AND ALSO USE FORM FROM ICONIC ILLUSION PICTURE FOR CONCEPTUAL PURPOSE.

RENOVATION PROJECT FOR MY FRIEND. BEFORE RENOVATION IT’S HAS 1 BEDROOM, 1 LIVINGROOM, 1 KITCHEN, AND 1 BATHROOM. THE OWNER WANT MORE BEDROOM TO SUPPORT WHEN HIS RELATIVE COMES TO VISIT. ALSO, WORKSTATION IN MASTER BEDROOM AND READING SPACE. BUT LEAVE THE BATHROOM UNCHANGED.


DESIGNING TOOL CRAWLING WOOD

WOOD MATERIAL CRAWLING ALONG THE WALL AND THE CEILING. CREATING FURNITURE AND DECORATING THE ROOM.

THE LIVING ROOM CAN TRANSFORM INTO SMALL BEDROOM BY USING SOFA BED FROM IKEA. THE SLIDING DOOR IS USED TO SEPARATE THE DINNING ZONE FROM THE ROOM. BUT WHEN THERE IS NO GUEST IT’S CAN BE OPEN WIDE AND TUCK BEHIND THE CABINET. SO THE LIVING AREA CAN BE MAXIMIZE

FLEXIBILITY. THE FUNCTIONS MUST HAVE THE FLEXIBILITY TO ADAPT ITSELF TO THE EVENT

SCREEN. TO SCREEN OUT THE POLLUTION THAT SURROUNDS THE SITE. ALSO, CREATE INNER COURT FOR THE USER TO FEEL MORE FRIENDLY.

ZONING

ALL THE FUNCTIONS ARE BLOCKING OFF THE POLLUTION AROUND THE SITE. EXHIBITION AND RESIDENT ARE ON THE 2ND FLOOR TO KEEP THE PRIVATE PRIVACY. RETAIL AND ART MARKET ARE THE MAIN APPROACHING FROM THE JJ MARKET TO ATTRACT PEOPLE. SUPPORTING FUNCTION SUCH AS REGISTRATION AND ARCHIVE ARE EASY TO SERVICE BECAUSE THERE ARE SERVICE WAY FROM THE ADJACENT ROAD.


DESIGNING TOOL

“SLICE AND SLIDE” NOT ONLY HORIZONTAL BUT ALSO VERTICAL TO CREATE SPACE THAT BRINGS NATURE CLOSER TO THE INSIDE USER AND CONNECT SPACE IN VERTICAL.

INNER COURT CAN BE USE BY FOOD RETAIL AND EXHIBITION. BY EXTENT IT’S FUNCTION INTO THE GARDEN TO CREATE FLEXIBILITY OF THE EVENT. EXHIBITION HALL AND RETAIL IS DESIGN TO BE AN OPEN PLAN. THE BOUNDARY IS TO USE FLOOR LEVEL AND PARTITION TO SEPARATE.

THE PROJECT THAT AIMS TO BE THE CENTER OF PERFORMANCE ART. GRAND HALL NEED TO SUPPORT EVERY KIND OF ACTIVITY. CHAMBER HALL MUST HAVE THE BEST QUALITY OF SOUND. CINEMA CAN ADAPT TO THE EVENT.

SITE IS ON THE SUKHUMVIT ROAD. SURROUNDED WITH HIGH RISE BUILDING. BTS IS NOT FAR FROM THE SITE. ALSO, PUBLIC PARK IS ADJACENT TO THE SITE.


INTENTION

MOVEMENT. THE MAIN FUNCTION SUCH AS GRAND HALL IS NOT LIVELY ALL THE TIME. THEY ONLY OPEN WHEN THERE IS AN EVENT. SO WE AIM TO BRING MOVEMENT TO USER. THE RETAIL IS THE MOST ACTIVE FUNCTION SO WE ZONE THE RETAIL IN CIRCLE AND IN 3D SPACE. THIS WILL BRING THE MOVEMENT INTO THE USER.

CONCEPT

TRANSPARENCY. MOST OF THE FUNCTION IS SOLID. SO WE THOUGHT ABOUT MAKING THE SPACE FEELS TRANSPARENCE. BY BOUNDARY, VOLUME, AND FUNCTION.

THE RETAIL AREA IN EVERY FLOOR IS OPEN AIR ALSO HAVE A VIEW TO THE MAIN COURT. AMPHITHEATER, IS NOT COMMONLY ACTIVE. IT CAN BE USE AS PUBLIC SPACE FOR THE BUILDING. GRAND HALL IS THE LARGEST AREA SO WE PUT IT ON THE WEST SIDE. IT CAN BE SUPPORT EASIER WITH THE SIDE CONNECTED TO OUTSIDE AREA.

CINEMA, THE MAIN FUNCTION THAT ATTRACTS PEOPLE IS DEEP INSIDE THE SITE BUT IT STILL CAN BE SEEN FROM THE FRONT. ALSO, THERE IS A PARKING BEHIND THE CINEMA SO WHO COMES TO WATCH LATE NIGHT FILM CAN BE EASIER TO FIND THEIR CAR. CHAMBER HALL, ON THE TOP OF THE BUILDING, CAN USE THE SERVICE CORE WITH GARND HALL. SO WE CAN MANAGE THE BACK STAGE EASIER.
