GROWING UP

MUSLIMINATLANTA

29Why did your parents disapprove ofyour music? Do they still feel thisway why or why not?

Music is “haram” in Islam !! Pretty much “bad” and not holy . The religion is strict and you have to be modest. My music isn’t that modest I was going in rapping at a young age doing cyphers and all. But now they support me and see the bigger picture and they know I’m not put here on some bullshit .

What would you say to kids who want to pursue music even if it goes against their parents' preferences?

Keep going lol . Your parents will support you when they see how hard your going . It’s like playing an instrument once they see you taking it serious they will support you eventually.

31Could you tell us a little about you? Who is Salma Slims, both the musician and the person? What details do people not know about you?

Im THAT BITCH lol !! Nah but when it comes to the music and these bars I am !!! I am queen as a women ! Im here to empower and uplift other women/ girls across the world. I am RUNWAY RAPPER. A lot of people don’t know I speak another language “Wolof” which is the native language in Gambia ! Both of my parents are Gambian

Atlanta

Omg my parents were so strict growing up lol . It’s not that they didn’t support me or my dreams it’s that they wanted me to always finish school and go to college in hopes of having a career that would help me take care of my self as an adult. So much was more of a hobby in their eyes .
