Lake of the Ozarks is a one-of-a-kind waterfront reunion destination located in central Missouri. A reservoir created by impounding the Osage River in the northern part of the Ozarks and boasting of more than 1,150 miles of shoreline, the main attraction here is the expansive 54,000-acre lake. The serpentine-shaped lake that has earned the nickname “the magic dragon" is where families can enjoy boating, swimming, fishing and a variety of recreational watersports. There’s even more to see and do in and around Lake of the Ozarks including golfing, dining and shopping.
With a new adventure waiting for you every day, start by exploring Bridal Caves & Thunder Mountain Park. Take a guided, kid-friendly tour through caves where the temperature is a cool 60 degrees yearround. In one of the most scenic caves in the country, see onyx formations created by water erosion over millions of years along with columns and drapery-like sheaths. The park also has lakeside viewing decks, nature trails and an observation tower along with facilities like a snack bar and gift shop. Families can enjoy the outdoors at Missouri’s many state parks including Ha Ha Tonka State Park where nature and history come together. In addition to its trails, the park is a geological wonderland with sinkholes, caves and a natural bridge. Adding to the park’s scenic beauty are ruins of a stone castle that afford awe-inspiring views of Lake of the Ozarks and Ha Ha Tonka Spring.
