You have recently become the owner of the Business Lady of the Year Award, on which we sincerely congratulate you. What are your feelings about this?
Thank you very much for your sincere greetings. I am truly Happy, Blessed, and Grateful to receive the Red Diamond Award 2022. Special Great Thanks to our 1st Lady of Cyprus, Mrs. Andri Anastasiades, for holding my hand throughout my speech. It is ver precious to me.
I had to compete with very worthy people. Their achievements are no less significant, bright, or less important. Thanks to the organizers, sponsors, and jury members for their trust. I thank everyone who supported me in the days of preparation for this festive evening.
Do you think a person should have an entrepreneurial vein from birth? Or force majeure situations can dramatically turn a person’s life and force or help him achieve everything?
There are different opinions regarding this. Of course, everyone can learn how to become a good entrepreneur with the right mindset and skills, but a good one must have inborn abilities or, as you say entrepreneurial vein from the birth of learning and doing things faster than others. Everyone comes into this world with a destiny. A good entrepreneur is a talent too, same as other talents which hold behind a lot of hard work, failure, and difficulties. Only multitasked people achieve great results. Usually, good or excellent entrepreneurs had at least one in their life forcemajor situations. The circumstances related to those difficult times will make you wiser, smarter, and stronger. There is always a story behind any success. The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.
As a person who went his own way from beginning to end, becoming successful in business and in his personal life, do you consider yourself a role model?
To say that you are a role model in any activity is incorrect. Nobody is perfect in this life. We all learn from our mistakes even though we always hear that the best is to learn from others’ mistakes which is practically impossible. For example, suppose somebody would follow your steps. In that case, they might end up in a completely different direction, maybe better, maybe worse. It’s like two chefs using the same recipe and the same ingredients, but the final taste of the food is entirely different. It all depends on that person’s will, patience, and perseverance. I inspire and teach my people things I have learnt from my experience. I always say: with force, you can take something away from somebody but can’t give anything to anybody. Ultimately, I am proud of myself because I am doing my best to be a role model for those who need it. Be a leader, not a boss. Care about your people and help them grow!
You are a real businesswoman. You have a family and a wonderful daughter. But, unfortunately, often, business goes against the well-being of the family. Do you have to sacrifice something and make a choice in favor of one thing? And what does your family give you?
First of all, my family is my main inspiration in life. My family gives me the power and the belief that I am strong and must continue even when we go through less pleasant moments.
It takes work to combine. However, finding a balance is real. Being able to talk, listen to each other and negotiate is an essential and valuable skill that helps to resolve many issues.
My husband is the one who gave me a chance to enter into Maritime World. He is a very famous Captain in western waters and a great Crew manager for the biggest Maritime Company in the world. A man to be proud of. We have cooperated together for the last ten years. It was not an easy challenge, but somehow, we built a beautiful legacy together.
My daughter is my inspiration and my everything. I enjoy and cherish every day, allowing me to see her grow and develop as a happy child and mannered lady.
Sacrifice while doing business is not said enough. This constantly happens in any kind of business or active lifestyle. To join the business world, I have sacrificed my carrier as a professional singersongwriter and performer to which I have dedicated 30 years of my life. The most significant sacrifice was working extremely long hours till the last day of my pregnancy. I will always remember how I finished the last business meeting around 11PM the evening before getting into labour early the following day. I know it is not healthy, but millions of great entrepreneurs understand what I mean.
People around you think you are the happiest person because you have your own business. You have things they can only imagine, but nobody knows or at least tries to understand that you pay a very high price for that. Most of the time, you have no time to realize or enjoy what you have. You have sleepless nights, take huge risks, don’t see your family members for some time… forget about your health, and many more.
Well, I always say to these kinds of envious/ jealous people: “My dear, before you judge, try to get up there, and then you will understand that it is not an easy life at all.”
Your idol, the person from whom you learned a lot?
My idol is my mother, who taught me that a lady must keep her family together no matter what. She taught me to fight for my family and never give up, even when I think everything is over. She is the one who showed me the role of a business lady and the hardest worker I have ever seen.
Staying a woman! This may be the most difficult rule to follow while in business.
Do you motivate yourself? If yes, how?
Sports, music, friendly discussions on interesting topics, good books, and traveling… all motivate me and give me more energy.
Are you good with people?
Good question! I am too good with people, which sometimes is not so good for me. But I cannot change that; it is somehow in my veins
What type of people do you dislike, and what kind of people do you try to avoid both in your personal life and business?
I try to avoid fake, toxic, harmful, unpolite, lazy, jealous, envious, anxious, untidy, liars, disrespectful, snobby…
What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
Develop! Success does not accompany those who are stuck in one place. Have always your targets fixed, and never give up.
What do you think is one of the best moments of your life that you could share with me?
The best moment in my life was when I became a mother. It is an inexplicable feeling of happiness. The fact that I have directly saved the lives of a few people in my life makes me feel that I wasn’t born in vain. That is a fantastic feeling.
If you could go back 10 years, what would you change in your life?
Absolutely nothing! I am happy and thankful for my life experience and achievements during these 10 years.
What is your motto, internal anthem?
Love your family, work super hard, and live your passion.
What would you like in the future?
A better, happier, and healthier society.
What would you wish our readers?
Wishing you lots of health and prosperity. Enjoy every moment of your precious life. Keep your face toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you. Always do the best you can!
