THE BRAND: COOKPLAY

COOKPLAY is a new-comer in the «food and design» industry, established by the industrial designer Ana Roquero with the commitment and passion to designing a more creative and experimental “table”, being nearest to the sensitivity of the new food culture. COOKPLAY was born from the dream to provoke emotion in the world of cooking, challenging the biggest brands with products loaded with personality in an attempt to fill a gap in the market with fun and a little “savoir faire”, combined with quality craftsmanship, beautiful simplicity and a commitment to designing a more creative tableware for an increasingly eclectic and global cuisine.


THE DESIGNER: ANA ROQUERO The Basque industrial designer , with a polyhedral profile, is a great generator of ideas, educated in London ( First at Kingston University). As a registered crafts consultant by the German Government, she designed a new highend range of professional knives for Arcos (5th largest manufacturer worldwide). 2014 winner of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, to the best product design for her Jōmon collection. Other relevant projects are: •Design of the ticket vending machines of Bilbao’s subway, under the supervision of Sir Norman Foster. •From 1999 to 2005, design of new kitchen concepts for Fagor, in collaboration with Dominique Perrault. •Design in 2012 of Bilbao and Madrid stores for menswear MAN 1924, on which Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) was quoted: “My new favourite store”.


THE COLLECTION: JŌMON

The first collection, Jōmon has recently won the prestigious 2014 Red Dot Design Award to the best product design. Jōmon is a set of bowls and trays in porcelain, glass and bamboo, inspired by nature and back to our origins with a pure and essential shape. It is a kind of shell which can be held comfortably and confidently in your hand to eat freely: sitting at the table, standing up or lying down, and its aim is to be the support of the most diverse gastronomy. Each Jōmon bowl neatly sits on a cavity, generating a superficial landscape that can grow limitlessly, providing a worktop for experimentation in which dishes are created within a framework of total freedom by associating ingredients to the recipients.
