Chapter 4: Yoga of Knowledge "KARAM BANDAN SE CHUTNE KE DO UPAY HAIN. KARMO KE TATVA KO JAAN KAR, NISWARATH BHAV SE KARAM KARNA AUR TATVE GYAN KA ANUBHAV KARNA"
VED VIHIT KAR KARAM AKAMA, MAN KO DEVAT VAH VISHRAMA AHAM BHUDHI NA ESS MEIN RAKHO, PHAL KI ASA MAN SE NAKO ACHAL BHUDHI SE KARAM KAMAO, CHAPAL BUDDHI KO TURAT HATAO HARI ARPAN SAB KARAM KARO TUM, BHOG VISHAY KI CHAH HARO TUM KARAM BAND YU TOHE NA BANDHE, KAHEN TEOON JO NISHDIN SAADE Chapter 4 begins by Lord Krishna explaining to Arjuna that the eternal science of yoga has been told by him since birth of humanity but over time the sequence was broken and the same things are being taught to him now. It is the fundamental secret which is being told to Arjuna being a trusted devotee and friend of Krishna. Arjuna, after listening to Krishna, questioned that how could he believe that it was Krishna Himself who existed several years before and only He imparted the knowledge to humanity. And now the Lord starts narrating… “Both you and I have had many births. I remember all of them, whereas you do not. Although, I am eternal by nature and the controller of all beings, I still remain in control of my material energy. I manifest by my own inner power. Whenever there is deterioration in dharma (increase of unrighteousness), I take human form at that time. I appear every millennium to protect the virtuous and pious souls, to destroy the evildoers and establish my dharma. JAB JAB PREMIN NIJ HIT KARAN TUM KO PUKARA, TAB TAB GURU AVTAAR DHARE TUM SABKO NESTARA One who is fully aware of the divine nature of my birth and activities does not take birth again in this material world but attains Me. JO JAN TUMAHRI AARTI GAAVE PAAVE SO MUKTI, SAAD SANGAT KO HARDAM DIJYE POORAN GURUBHAKTI Many people in the past who had freed themselves from attachment, fear and anger and focussed their mind in me and who had surrendered completely to me were purified by the fire of knowledge and ultimately reached me. In whatever manner people worship me, I respond to them accordingly. Everyone, in all circumstances, follows my path. Those who engage in ritualistic activities desiring materialistic success would surely see the corresponding results.
Taking into consideration the effects of gunas and one's own karma, I created the four socio-religious divisions (caste). And although I created this system, you should know that I am eternal and not responsible for its results. I have no desire for the fruits of action and one who realises me is not bound by reactions to their actions. Having known this, our ancestors, seekers of transcendence (non-physical realm), also performed their actions. You also need to do your duty. One must understand the nature of prescribed action (to do what is right), nature of forbidden action (to do what is wrong), and also nature of inaction (to do nothing). The path of action is mystifying (non-physical realm). One who identifies inaction in action and action in inaction is wise in human society. Such a person is spiritually inclined even while engaging in all types of work. A person who has purged desire and burnt his karmic reactions in the fire of knowledge is called a sage by the wise. Expecting nothing, content with whatever outcome, overcoming dualities, free from envy, and steady in the face of success or failure, even though acting; such a person will not incur karmic reactions. Wisdom can be acquired by awakening your intellectual capacity, surrendering and rendering service to the wise who have realised the truth. They, in turn, will impart wisdom to you. Once you have gained the wisdom, you will see all living beings in terms of their common spiritual essence as one with you and living in me. Even the most sinful person can be pardoned of his sins through transcendental knowledge. Fire of supreme knowledge reduces all karmic reactions to ashes just as raging fire reduces wood to ashes. There is nothing more purifying than transcendental knowledge. One who is in perfect devotion realises this understanding within himself in due course. O Satguru Swami Teoonram, you are our Lord Krishna!!! We pray to you Sai that we become a disciple like Arjuna so that we comprehend and imbibe the treasure of knowledge in our lives that you have bestowed on us. Reverence in your Holy feet!
