Tu Pranan Khe To Jaani, Ae Indriyon Kar Sunani, Kahen Teoon Pan Pachani, Cho Na 'Soham' Naad Vajaye Chapter one ends with the dire state of Arjuna where his heart is captured with grief and he prefers to quit the battlefield rather than killing the elders and brothers of his family. Arjuna thus tells the Lord that he has become weak and is confused about his duties. He thus surrenders himself to the Lord and seeks His instructions with respect to his duties. The Lord thus explains to him… There is never a time when I or you did not exist. And all of us shall certainly exist in the future too. Joy- Sorrow, Heat- Cold are temporary experience arising out of the contact with sense objects. We must learn to tolerate them and such wise person who endures such conflicting phases is eligible for eternal life. That which changes
with time cannot be considered eternal because ultimate reality is neither temporary nor does it change with time, it is indestructible. The Lord further explains the characteristics of the Soul where He says that the all-pervading consciousness is imperishable and can never be destroyed. (Sakshi chetan Brahma ka sab ghat mein has vaas, kahen Teon shashi surya mein tanka hain parkash) It has no birth or death. It has no being and hence will never cease to exist. It is without beginning or an end. It cannot be wounded by weapons, burned by fire, moistened by water or blown away by wind. It is eternal, all pervading, unalterable, and unmoving. It cannot be seen, understood or changed. The bodies are for the soul just like clothes are for us. Those who are born will certainly die one day and those who die will be born again one day. Do not lament for the body. Do not get attached to anyone or anything; everything is like a dream. (Dharamshalla jaan jag ko jeev sab mehman hain, moh kisse na karo, sab swapn sam saman hain) He told Arjuna, “you are a warrior and your duty is to fight and if you die you will attain heaven; if you win you will attain earth. Treat joy and sorrow, victory and defeat, gain and loss alike and prepare yourself for battle.” Further the Almighty says “I will now speak to you of wisdom in yoga which will free you from the bondages that result from karma.” The three Gunas are the main components within the circumference of which the Vedas analyze life, the Lord tells Arjuna “you should transcend these Gunas. Fix your mind on the truth and be free from the concerns of the material world. Concentrate on the Soul alone. The essence of yoga is to have the mind fixed on the duty and to abandon all thoughts about the fruits of actions. Devote yourself to Yoga, the essence of work. The wise renounce the fruits of their action. (Jisko kuch nahi chahiye so hi Shahan ka shah) In order to attain steady wisdom, you should restrain your senses and focus your entire mind and being on the Lord. The person who is unmoved by desires remains still and attains peace (Nischal man se milat hain nischal atam Ram, Teoon man nischal kare pao sukh ka dham). Indifferent to ownership or sense of possession and free from any sense of ego, he attains peace. Purity of mind causes all suffering to cease. Such a person will attain without doubt steady intelligence. Only through discipline in yoga, can one attain clear intelligence. Only then can one engage in meditation. Only meditation can give you peace and without peace there is no happiness? If one is fixed in this consciousness even at the moment of death, one attains Brahman and all suffering ceases. (Adi mantar le Guru se jaap jap dhar dhyan, jagat bandan tod vichro paye atam gyaan ko) O Satguru Swami Teoonram, you are our Lord Krishna!!! We pray to you Sai that we become a disciple like Arjuna so that we comprehend and imbibe the treasure of knowledge in our lives that you have bestowed on us. Reverence in your Holy feet!
