Greetings everyone! Welcome to President International Model United Nation 2020. Thank you to each and every one of you for being here with us today. Today marks our 9th annual PresMUN and we are proud to be able to host it and getting together with all of you. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the committees who have generously contributed to make this event a successful one. We couldn’t have done it without you! I would also like to express my warmest welcome for the participants to be able to take part in the PresMun 2020, and I hope this event will impact you greatly in the future. As participants of the PresMun, all of you are here due to a mutual passion for MUNs. Your passion will help us all to unite, to inform, to inspire, and to motivate others to action in support of the SDGs. And within those reasons are why we are grateful to have you join us here at the PresMUN 2020. Even though we are unable to meet physically due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I hope that you'd keep your spirits up and enjoy the amazing moments that this event will give you. Lastly, I hope that you are all in a well condition and stay safe. I wish you all the best of luck and enjoy PresMUN 2020.

Greeting delegates! Firstly, I would like to say welcome to our conference! Thank you for believing in our event as a part of your MUN journey. This year PresMUN has marked the 9th edition of PresMUN. And this year President International MUN has become a new stepping stone for the history of PresMUN as we specially conduct it borderless through the online platform to connect every delegate from different places at a time. We have provided 5 different councils with all different experiences and perspectives to complete different needs and favorites for each delegate. We have also prepared you for great events and performances ahead, so don’t forget to come to every session. I am so glad to have you in PresMUN 2020, even though we might not physically meet in person. My team and I have worked for 11 months to make PresMUN memorable to all of you. Hopefully it becomes one of your best MUN experiences despite the pandemic condition. If there is anything that could better complete your PresMUN experience please don’t hesitate to tell the committee and we’ll try to serve your needs with our heart. Lastly, I hope that you are in a good condition and stay safe. I wish we could meet one day through another MUN story.

President International Model United Nations (PresMUN) 2020 is the nineth season of PresMUN which shall surpass its eight predecessors both in the range of participants as well as in the service that its Secretariat offers. PresMUN itself is an annual MUN conference co-hosted by President University Model United Nations (PUMUN). Its first installment was done in 2012 and, ever since, has received high enthusiasm and eager anticipation from local and international audiences. In the national level, PresMUN has achieved a certain reputation and is often deemed as one of the most prestigious MUN conferences in Indonesia despite its young age. Difference with the previous PresMUN, this year PresMUN 2020 want to expand its scope to the international community thus the name changes into President International Model United Nations with the aims it could be a platform upon which a group of young thinkers all around the world could pour their ideas and learn how to shape this world into a better place. 3
To bring forward greater awareness of potential future leaders for crucial international issues and the manner with which such issues are handled.
Creating an atmosphere which is substantially supportive of the learning process for all participating delegates. Providing the best service possible to the participating delegates through professional manner and amiable presence that President Model United Nations (PresMUN) has always been attributed to. Building strong partnerships with a number of external parties which shall ensuremutual benefit upon continuous, long-lasting fashion. 4
"The Beginning of the End: Countries Fate Inside the Labyrinth of Global Conflicts."
2020 has finally arrived and the second decade of the 21st century is coming to an end, but instead of opening a new brighter chapter, the future has never looked so grim. The beginning of 2020 is painted with conflict and devastations of large scales, damaging the peace and stability of the world and all levels due to man-made conflicts, natural disasters, and the spread of a pandemic that not even the United Nations, International Organizations, or any other states have prepared for. It is clear that the world is changing at an unpredictably rapid pace and it is impossible to ignore that the world is going into a new era of uncertain conflicts. It is based on this contemporary global urgencies and situations that this year, PresMUN will be conducting yet another one of the biggest Model United Nations in Indonesia with the theme, “The Beginning of the End: Countries Fate in the Labyrinth of Global Conflicts”. In this theme, the phrase, ‘the beginning of the end’ refers to the contemporary conflicts that negatively impacted the world and poses a threat to global peace and security. Meanwhile, the phrase ‘countries fate in the labyrinth of global conflicts’ is meant to emphasize that the year of 2020 is painted with various conflicts that resulted in negative5
implications to the world at all levels as we know it. From-the US Airstrike in Iran and the fires of Australia to the outbreak of COVID-19, it would seem that 2020 is painted with new forms of conflicts posing threat to global peace and security even to countries that are not directly involved in the issue. And with these new unpredictable, uncertain, and perhaps unavoidable global threats in mind, we will challenge the delegates of PresMUN 2020 to critically think as the countries that they will represent in understanding how to involve other actors and devise a course of actions to prepare the world in facing these new threats to global peace and security. In this MUN, the delegates are also expected to be able to create the most reasonable draft resolutions as the real outcome of their discussions and debates to find their solutions to guide the world through this new era of uncertainty.

Due to the COVID-19, PresMun 2020 will be conducting all committee sessions online. Delegates should download Zoom Conference Application to join the online committee sessions. The link will be distributed approximately before the day of event. Each councils are having different link, the delegates need to pay attention to the link that will be distributed by the committees.
All delegates are required to change the Zoom name with the format name into Council_Country Name before join the Zoom Application. The consequence will be follow to be not admitted by the host if the delegates are not changing their format name. For any difficulties in changing format name shall directly contact to the Delegate Affairs for assistance.
All delegates are expected to be dressed in formal wear, preferably to wear a blazer. Any delegate found dressed inappropriately will be asked to change, and failure to do so may result in the delegate being barred from attending committee sessions.

Delegates should be punctual for all committee sessions to ensure the event can start smoothly. Delegates are obligated to come 15 minutes before the event started (at the latest). During committee sessions, delegates are also expected to remain attentive to council proceedings and be physically present at their electronic devices throughout the sessions, unless they have received permission from their Chairs to be excused. Absence or unresponsiveness without a valid reason will be noted by the Chairs, and persistent unresponsiveness may cause your attendance for that session to be discounted.
Delegates are required to attend at least five (5) of the six (6) committee sessions to be eligible in receiving a certificate of participation. Delegates who must leave the committee session for emergency purposes must inform their Chairs or Delegate Affairs for assistance.

Delegates are expected to treat all conference staff and other delegates with the utmost respect. Offensive or inappropriate remarks or actions will not be tolerated. It is strongly advises to the delegates for not share access of any link regarding to the PresMun 2020 to any unauthorized individual for security purposes.

- PRESMUN 2020 -
