IN LONATO FOR SOME MORE RECORDS A LONATO PER QUALCHE ALTRO RECORD

With the start of the WSK Super Master Series, the now historic championship which began its second 10 years in 2020, the WSK Promotion international karting season gets underway. In this second round, our longest running series sees the KZ2 class take to the track for the first race of the year, preparing to achieve a turnout of drivers Lonato has accustomed us to. The race of the WSK Promotion at the South Garda Karting brings with it an army of drivers. And the usual amazing show.

Con l’avvio della WSK Super Master Series, l’ormai storico campionato che nel 2020 comincia i suoi secondi 10 anni di vita, la stagione del karting internazionale targata WSK Promotion entra nel vivo. In questo secondo round, la nostra serie più longeva porta in pista per la prima gara dell’anno la categoria KZ2, apprestandosi a registrare un’affluenza di piloti alla quale Lonato ci ha ormai abituato. L’appuntamento WSK Promotion alla South Garda Karting porta infatti con sé un esercito di piloti. E il consueto grande spettacolo.

PALOMBA WINS WITH A SECOND ATTEMPT PALOMBA VINCE AL SECONDO TENTATIVO

Giuseppe Palomba (Birel Art/TM Racing) wins an exciting race that sees him leaving the scene shortly after the start. The accident of Marco Tormen (Praga/ TM Racing) though, forces the race officials to temporarily suspend the race. Thus, the Birel Art driver is able to resume his spot in the first row and, this time, make no mistakes. Palomba immediately overtakes the pole position driver and teammate Alex Irlando (Birel Art/TM Racing) taking the lead and maintaining it to the finish line. Irlando, the winner of two heats, is overtaken by Fabian Federer (Maranello/ TM Racing) one the best drivers along with Douglas Lundberg (Lenzokart/TM Racing) who ends up in fourth place. After having won three heats, Giacomo Pollini (Formula K/TM Racing) does not reach the finals due to an accident in the prefinals, while Riccardo Longhi (Birel Art/TM Racing), winner of two heats but unfortunate in the prefinal, regains 14 positions and ends up in the top ten.

Giuseppe Palomba (Birel Art/TM Racing) vince una gara rocambolesca che inizialmente lo vede uscire di scena poco dopo il via. L’incidente di Marco Tormen (Praga/TM Racing), però, costringe i commissari a interrompere la gara. Il pilota Birel Art può così riprendere il suo posto in prima fila e, questa volta, non sbagliare nulla: Palomba scavalca subito il poleman e compagno di team Alex Irlando (Birel Art/TM Racing) insediandosi al primo posto fino al termine della gara. Irlando, vincitore di due manches, viene scavalcato anche da Fabian Federer (Maranello/ TM Racing), uno dei più brillanti insieme a Douglas Lundberg (Lenzokart/TM Racing), quarto. Giacomo Pollini (Formula K/TM Racing) dopo tre manches vinte non raggiunge la finale per un incidente in prefinale, mentre Riccardo Longhi (Birel Art/TM Racing), vincitore di 2 manche e anche lui sfortunato in prefinale, rimonta 14 posizioni e chiude in top ten.

JOSEPH TURNEY TAKES THE LEAD JOSEPH TURNEY PRENDE IL COMANDO

Joseph Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) is the winner in Lonato, after recovering from the disappointment in Adria where a contact with an opponent while in the lead for most of the decisive race took away any chance of victory. The Englishman finished ahead of his teammate and first-round winner Pedro Hiltbrand (Tony Kart/Vortex), from whom Turney takes away the classification lead. Behind them, only the category novice Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame), winner of his prefinal race, and Taylor Barnard (KR/Iame), the driver in the race with the fastest lap time and third in the general, managed to keep up with the leaders closing 3rd and 4th respectively. In this decisive race, Kirill Smal (Energy/TM Racing) a notable driver in round 1, stands out, but it is too late to fight for the podium. A bit of a disappointment, on the other hand for Luigi Coluccio (Kosmic/Vortex), who was in the lead in the initial laps but sixth at the finish line, and Van’t Hoff (Exprit/TM Racing), ending up finishing seventh after winning the prefinal B race.

Arriva la vittoria per Joseph Turney (Tony Kart/ Vortex), reduce dalla delusione di Adria in cui fu vittima di un contatto mentre era in testa alla Finale. L’inglese precede il compagno di squadra, nonché vincitore del primo round, Pedro Hiltbrand (Tony Kart/Vortex), a cui Turney sottrae anche la testa della classifica. Alle loro spalle, solo l’esordiente della categoria Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame), vincitore della sua prefinale, e Taylor Barnard (KR/Iame), autore del giro veloce della gara e terzo nella generale, riescono a tenere il passo dei leader chiudendo rispettivamente 3° e 4°. Nella gara decisiva si mette in mostra anche il protagonista del round 1 Kirill Smal (Energy/TM Racing), ma è tardi per lottare per il podio. Un po’ di delusione, invece, per Luigi Coluccio (Kosmic/Vortex), in testa nei primi giri ma sesto al traguardo, e Van’t Hoff (Exprit/TM Racing), settimo dopo aver vinto la prefinale B.

LINDBLAD FLIES TO VICTORY LINDBLAD VOLA VERSO LA VITTORIA

The winner at the end of a hard-fought finals race in Lonato is Arvid Lindblad (KR/Iame). The British driver immediately sensed that the best thing to do was to avoid needless battles and in six laps, as soon as he gained the lead, he did everything he could do to get away from the pack of other drivers which also involved Brando Badoer (KR/Iame), Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (RK/TM Racing), Karol Pasiewicz (Tony Kart/Vortex) and the pole position driver Igor Cepil (KR/ Iame) who ended up in third at the finish line. Not even Badoer, who up to that point had appeared to be the most promising driver, in the lead after the qualification rounds, was able to pass and outdrive his opponents in time for chasing Lindblad. Badoer reaches him only when he is already launched for the capture the victory. A victory that also earnes him the top step of the rankings, where he overtakes Alfio Andrea Spina (KR/Iame) who, in Lonato, was third in the prefinals but slipped to the 15th spot due to a penalty.

A Lonato, al termine di una finale combattutissima, la spunta Arvid Lindblad (KR/Iame). L’inglese intuisce subito che la cosa migliore è evitare la battaglia e nell’arco di sei giri, appena guadagnata la testa, fa di tutto per allontanarsi dalla bagarre cui dà vita il gruppetto formato da Brando Badoer (KR/Iame), Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (RK/TM Racing), Karol Pasiewicz (Tony Kart/Vortex) e il poleman Igor Cepil (KR/Iame), poi terzo al traguardo. Nemmeno Badoer, apparso fino a quel momento il più in forma, in testa dopo qualifiche e manches, riesce a liberarsi dei suoi avversari in tempo per tentare l’inseguimento a Lindblad, riacciuffato solo quando è ormai lanciato verso la vittoria. Vittoria che vale al pilota KR anche la testa della classifica, dove scavalca un Alfio Andrea Spina (KR/Iame) che, a Lonato, è terzo nella sua prefinale ma scivola 15° in finale anche a causa di una penalità.

BACK-TO-BACK WIN FOR SKULANOV SECONDA VITTORIA CONSECUTIVA PER SKULANOV

With the victory at the South Garda Karting, Gerasim Skulanov (Formula K/TM Racing) is definitely in a great position in the race for the WSK Super Master Series title. But the success of the Russian in Lonato is far from obvious. Second at the end of the qualifying heats behind Dmitry Matveev (Energy/TM Racing), he has to deal with really excellent opponents like Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin/ TM Racing) and German Foteev (Energy/TM Racing). The United Arab Emirates driver immediately took command of the race, but Gerasim was good at not getting involved in the hustle and bustle of the first few laps, very excited as always, and was able to take the lead in the fourth lap. Al Dhaheri, therefore, had to settle for second place ahead of Matveev, who started in the pole position spot. Simone Bianco (CRG/TM Racing) closed in fourth after regaining 16 positions with great driving.

Con la vittoria al South Garda Karting, Gerasim Skulanov (Formula K/TM Racing) indossa definitivamente gli abiti del favorito nella corsa al titolo della WSK Super Master Series. Ma il successo del russo a Lonato è tutt’altro che scontato: secondo al termine delle manches dietro a Dmitry Matveev (Energy/ TM Racing), deve vedersela anche con avversari davvero in forma come Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin/TM Racing) e German Foteev (Energy/TM Racing). Il pilota degli Emirati prende subito il comando della gara, ma Gerasim è bravo a non farsi coinvolgere nella bagarre dei primi giri, come sempre molto concitati, e a portarsi in testa alla quarta tornata. Al Dhaheri si deve quindi accontentare del secondo posto davanti a Matveev, partito in pole. Quarto chiude Simone Bianco (CRG/TM Racing), autore di una rimonta di 16 posizioni.

Pasiewicz maintains the podium while Ugochukwu gets bumped off it. Big jump for Badoer who, thanks to the 81 points gained in the second round, goes from the 18th to the 4th position.
